Really simple, just ask the community if we should stop these votes about funding working groups.
For the next 6 months we won’t have any vote like this anymore
Yes - we stop the votes for funding
No - we keep voting for funding
Why do you want to stop these votes?
thats a very interesting thing. can you also explain what the idea behind this is?
Why you would like to stop this?
There are things that have to be done, what solution are you proposing to solve these problems?
The last 3 votes where people asking for money, I am not saying. that they don’t deserve but I think we should vote on other things..
I am proposing that we vote on other things, the way it is now, is that the votes are only for funding groups (not saying that they don’t deserve)
In my opinion the money should stay in treasury for now and used in the future for acquisitons, but that’s my personal opinion, not saying it right or wrong.. I am just tired of voting at “money giving” proposals
The Jupiter DAO does not fund acquisitions tho. We fund workgroups and initiatives.
i understand your concerns. Who is going to solve the design problems and the developer issues the community has?
I would encourage you to
- open discord and go to the the developer support channel see how many requests people have and how the devrel team is helping
- open the developer documentation and see how it has evolved (the jupiter team together with the devrel team are working on these)
- check the DevRel Github repository and see how many examples are been build there to support other developers to build on jupiter
- And there are more points to mention too…
WGs dont just appear in the Jupiverse and drain money from the treasury, WG solve problems that already exist and there is potential of doing better.
Do you think this tasks should be solved by community members without compensation?
Where did I say that they DRAIN money?
Read again what I said, I even said that they do deserve..
Good to know..
Maybe I am in the wrong place..
How and who is going to solve the problems i mentioned before?
Do you think this problems should be solved?
How many people work for Jupiter? This is a serious question because I don’t know the answer..
Probably they have people in the team that can solve these problems, they just hired 65 more people and they still need to outsorce more work.
As I said, my vote proposal is not to stop funding work groups (I voted yes on the first one and the second and third one NO)
The sentiment that I have is bad, probably others have too, it feels like we just vote that, that’s why I am asking for a 6 months time until next wg funding vote
There is a difference between the Jupiter Team the DAO and the WGs.
What Jupiter does intern is a completely different story and i personally also dont know anything about it. What i know is that WGs and community members bring a different perspective and a different value than employees.
I understand that the sentiment is bad, tha DAO is gathering feedback and will propose a solution to this problem in the short/mid future
It is evident from $Jup serious bleeding that the timing of these votes needs review
Bro, this is a horrible idea
We have 10 million USDC to spend and you’re saying halted for Six months?
Yes..
Just because we have doesn’t me mean we NEED to..
A lot of people are tired of these votes but I see that some people want them to continue, why not vote if we should keep this votes for money?
And again, I am not saying people don’t deserve the money, but since we started these votes, the sentiment in jupiter has been really bad
Funny that grant recipients and people waiting to apply for “money grants” disagreeing
Do the process in private we know you deserve $, we don’t need to see it. Twitter posts are getting 350k views fudding JUP and making retail think JUP is a scam
Put it this way- if we are spending 280m $JUP on a team to 65 + people who also get USDC
It seems ridiculous why we wouldn’t spend 10m usdc on the dao.
If team get paid, community should too
We already had 4 proposals for paying people, why not wait 6 months for more of those?
I am tired of these proposals and in my opinion, since the first one Jupiter community is falling apart.. I like Jupiter, never sold one token, I am not asking to give more ASR or anything.. Just to stop for a while those proposals that in my opinion is really putting the sentiment very bad..
It is quite simple, just make a vote to see if people want to keep voting on money grant proposals or not, bring back the good vibes
This sounds a bit more like a rant, not so much a well-thought post. If everyone on this forum wrote a similar post, we would quickly disengage everyone from using it. Would you agree?
I have lurked around the community for a few months now and I came to the decision to unstake my JUP partially because of the sentiment described in the post. Just my 2 cents below and I’ll be following as a user from now on.
Not that I don’t believe in the project, I believe the platform itself is great and will continue to do well, but in the end it seems that the DAO is just another vehicle to enrich people who have most presence and that part I am not a fan. In the end it is not the experiment I thought it would be.
WGs and grants are being passed left and right not because the “majority” of the DAO wants it but because the whales will it as such (I could be wrong and this is a case of the loud minority in the forum not wanting to approve the grants). It seems to me in the end people want to grow their own pies and try to profit while they can.
Nothing against you lochie, you seem like a great person, but this sentence in itself is iffy no? The team is delivering and own the actual business so of course they get paid. Paying the community is not paying the few but the many. Do you believe the DAO is decentralized and users have a say? The rules can be bent and just changed whenever so I personally don’t think as a user I have autonomy.
To preface this comment I come from a dev background.
Why not open source it and let the community contribute? I guarantee you would get contributions without needing to spend anywhere close to $15k a month for it. Get the DAO to fund any infrastructure costs and a more modest salary for a tech lead to coordinate part time and that sounds like a much more solid proposal than what was posted (for the DAO, but obviously not for personal gain).
The original trigger for me posting is looking at how r/overemployed users work multiple jobs and I think that this would be easily be the case here. The work being done doesn’t justify $15k for 3 members. Do you have a roadmap for future features? Monitoring your metrics/SLAs/SLOs? How do you arrive at this amount for fair compensation? There is too much lack of transparency in terms of work done (or maybe just me missing it) that I think any product manager/owner would struggle to justify the costs.
You could grab one senior and a handful of juniors for that budget and deliver significantly more than what we currently have. Requiring and paying 2 tech leads worth of salary should lead to much more output than what’s in the public (even more so if it’s a full time job of at least 35+hr per week).
If I was a dev on this project I don’t think I would need to spend more than 5-10 hours a week personally on actual development work and you could easily bank $5k extra a month on top of my full time. For me it seems too sweet of a deal for what it is worth.
I am not trying to bash on the work that’s done or anyone involved. I am just putting down my honest opinion from someone who has worked on high performing startups/cultures and often deals with project management.
I imagine OP comes from a different angle than me but the frustration stems from similar points.
In any case, hope the community keeps going strong and hope JUP actually manages to grows the pie for everyone instead of the few.
I personally would’ve loved to see more cost analysis being done instead of users pumping proposals and hoping to get paid but in the end everyone is in it for some benefit so I can’t be all too surprised.
