Good cat nominations - recognising members

Enhancing the Good Cat Nomination Process for Jupuary 2025 :cat:

Overview

The Good Cat nomination form will return for Jupuary 2025, allowing community members to highlight their contributions to the Jupiverse for a chance to receive a Jupuary airdrop allocation.
This is great. However:

This year, I propose an additional peer-to-peer nomination system to complement self-nominations, fostering greater recognition and alignment within the community.

Current Process: Self-Nomination

The Good Cat nomination form allows individuals to nominate themselves based on contributions to Jupiter, including:
ā€¢ X Engagements: Threads, tweets, and engagement driving awareness and adoption.
ā€¢ Product Participation: Active use and promotion of Jupiter products (Swaps, Perps, JLP, etc.).
ā€¢ Community Contributions: Initiatives that have directly contributed to the success of the Jupiter ecosystem.

This self-nomination system will continue as the foundation for identifying Good Cats in Jupuary 2025

I think this should still continue! .

Proposed Addition: Peer-to-Peer Nominations

I propose introducing a peer-to-peer nomination system, where community members can nominate others for their contributions to the Jupiverse.

How It Will Work:
1. Nomination Submission :ballot_box:
ā€¢ Community members submit a form nominating another community member.
ā€¢ Submissions must include:
ā€¢ Nomineeā€™s Name: The person being recognized.
ā€¢ Reason for Nomination: A brief explanation of their contributions (e.g., community building, impactful threads, product usage, etc.).

2.	Review Process šŸ”
ā€¢	All peer nominations will be reviewed and filtered by the Cadet Work Group (CWG) to ensure accuracy, fairness, and relevance.

3.	Final Selection šŸ±
ā€¢	Valid nominations will be passed to Mei, who will make the final decisions on allocation.

Criteria for Consideration

Same as Good Cat self nomination.

Conclusion

The updated system will consist of:
1. Self-Nominations: Individuals nominate themselves for their contributions.
2. Peer Nominations: Community members nominate peers who deserve recognition.

This dual approach ensures the most impactful contributors are acknowledged and rewarded for their efforts, aligning with Jupuaryā€™s goals of growing the

Awesome idea, would be great to have such a nice oportunity to nominate others. There so many good cats that grew up and evolve with the jupiverse itself in this last year and seeing them engaging more and more and ā€˜carrying the boats and logsā€™ as u might say  - this is great timing to use ur quote .

The hard part would be to not forget some of them and try to nominate all of them that played a role in the evolution of this ecosystem :eyes::green_heart:

Whoā€™s gonna carry the boats and the logs?

Great initiative @lochie2001!
Would be great to see what would be considered a good cat by the team.
Nevertheless, its great to see real community grow together!
JUP is home! :heart_hands::ringer_planet::cat2:

Thats what PPP is all about.

the person nominating gains nothing- its purely for pumping other people

This system however could be exploited by forming groups or cartels. It would also benefit people like you @lochie2001 who have been building connections here all year. Donā€™t get me wrong, I think you should be recognized for your contributions, but this setup would heavily favour a small group and as mentioned, could be easily gamed.

@miuq yeah itā€™s a valid concern most definitely.

i think one thing we are thinking about is having a dual system, where everyone will still have to self-apply as per last yearā€™s, but peer recommendations/testimonials by other Catdets and COCs can be considered/weighed in into the process.

Good ideas all round!

I think everyone on this group should automatically be nominated. Probably if you are in here you are busy out there. Very simple. If you are pushing Jup out there you definitely are in here. Simple really.

100% rather than a contribution to JUP it becomes a competition of who made more connections with the right people. If you have contributed, the evidence will speak for itself

Iā€™m gonna nominate you and everyone on our private server, will I get it back from all of you guys?

Not totally against it as long as the weight is light on the nominations. We donā€™t want people to start loving everyone just to get rewarded, which such system would incentivize. If the nomination doesnā€™t have a big weight, I can then see it as a way to lift the team spirit up rather than becoming just another farmable.

This is a very fair point @miuq. Also think youā€™ve phrased well cos if not @lochie2001 might misunderstand your views but think Lochie is smart and open minded to get where you coming fromšŸ‘šŸæ

My guess is if you can proof your contribution with data from the ecosystem itself though your personal submission, peer recommendation wouldnā€™t matter that much. But it might do in some cases where that data canā€™t be accessed or for some reasons, canā€™t be quantified!

Many people contribute to the DAO simply by voting and staking, and that alone is crucial to its functioning. However, there are others who go above and beyond, contributing in additional ways. While everyone here has a valid claim, some scenarios may already be addressed through other aspects of the airdrop, which are unlikely to be reconsidered. My perspective is more focused on those who are going the extra mile and can provide proof of their efforts. Thatā€™s my take.
