Jupuary should be looked at as what it is āA generous gift to the communityā.
If that doesnāt clarify my position, my reasons for supporting it will.
Firstly, the vision of the first Jupuary was to reward platform users and decentralize the Protocol giving holders power to vote. For this reason alone, I believe Jupuary should continue, fostering the culture that has attracted so many of us and encouraging even more to join our community with a future ones.
Additionally, Jupiter stands out as an extraordinary project. The team delivers products at an impressive pace, faster than you can say meow.
Finally, Airdropping JUP can enhance community engagement, encouraging users to participate more actively in the ecosystem, ultimately strengthening the overall project.
I understand your concern which is mostly about the token price but that is something that can easily recover.

Selfish view point, markets/tokens mature and jupuary is all about onboarding and decentralising, you should factor in supply dynamics when you purchased the token. Those tokens are allocated to the community and as such they should be given to them, Jupuary is a good mechanism to do that.

I honestly donāt know how a new airdrop will " attract " new users if you need to be already a user to receive the airdropā¦

jupuary would be used to attract new users as a marketing tool. the new comers would find out about jupiter through jupuary tooā¦lets face itā¦lots of new comers came into jupiter because of the jupuary, and then lots of them stayed because they found out that jupiter is not all about jupuaryā¦is a lot more.

than more i read, than more iām interesting to stay staking JUP and WEN , this is the best way to increase our personal bag. I was waiting to use my rewards ā¦if itās not possible - ā¦iām glad to increase my total stacking. Hope this works in a good way and i am faithful with this project ā¦ I never participate the first time but iām here enjoining this interesting process (free speech is still the best way to acquire knowledge and better ideas in this kind of groups = new skills )

Also, the token allocated to the community means the JUP holders, who will be deciding on this one as well, and can be used by the DAO for better value initiatives, which doesnāt have to involve farmers and users.

Everything you said should definitely be considered and not just blown off for the reason of wanting more JUP.
BUT! depending on the structure of the allocations for Jupuary, I think going on with the airdrop is the way to go. If it entails putting JUP in hands of people that were not here for the first airdrop but have been involved ever sinceā¦ I think this is going to work out in the end due to the fact we will be brining in a second batch of dedicated members to this community.
All we need is a thoughtful and equal distribution between the OGs and onboarding the newcomers with more JUP.

This is all fantastic, but these initiatives can be funded by income from JUP not through JUPUARY distributions. The dao makes a significant amount of $$ each year, and as the ecosystem grows that will only increase, we need to decentralise the protocol first though hence why Jupuary is important

There have been clear promises for multiple (4) rounds of airdrops, taking place every year during Jupuary (January). You can find several of them in the Grow the Pie update #1 alone: https://www.jupresear.ch/t/archived-grow-the-pie-update-1/.

There should be at least one more JUP airdrop to close of round 2, as this has been promised by the team (see quote above) and the entire last year from 2 November 2023 until 2 November 2024 people have been engaging with Jupiter in a variety of ways, being incentivised to use Jupiter instead of other platforms (like Raydium directly) with the promise of multiple more rounds of airdrops.
This has been announced by the founder and CEO of Jupiter. It would IMO destroy the reputation of Jupiter to cancel the airdrop after having promised it.
If there would be a vote about the future of Jupuary we would have to consider the timeframes properly.

Round 1 was from the beginning of Jupiter until 2nd of November 2023 with airdrop in January 2024

Round 2 was from 2nd of November 2023 until 2nd of November 2024 (next week) with the airdrop in January 2025
In other words, round 2 has nearly been completed and all the activity for the airdrop snapshot has already been contributed in the last 12 months.
If there were to be a vote about IF there should be another round of Jupuary, this would have to be about round 3 and round 4 (as round 2 is now coming to a close).
Only 955,000 out of 15,247,000 users (or 3,885,443 users with $100+ volume) were part of Jupuary round 1. Everyone else has been contributing to JUP and Jupiter in the last 12 months, but have not received any airdrop.
Millions of new users who missed round 1 have been trading all of last year since November 2023, trusting they would be eligible for the airdrop in round 2.
Iāve traded for millions of USD in tokens and used nearly every feature of Jupiter. Iāve also launched several tokens and memecoins on Solana which have in turn contributed to many Millions of USD in transaction volume.
I myself joined Solana in November 2023 and have not received any airdrop. Many millions of users are in the same boat, and are looking forward to be part of Jupuary for the very first time (instead of only seeing others peopleās airdrops on Twitter).
It was a very sour feeling to just miss out on the first airdrop, and have been looking forward to Jupuary all year - hanging on the promises of Meow and Jupiter (see the 3 quotes by Meow at the beginning of this reply).
Not keeping promises and sticking to the plans would deeply hurt my trust in Jupiter, especially as round 2 which started last year November 2023 has nearly completed and after the snapshot in November 2024 all that remains is the JUP airdrop / distribution.
Not having another (inclusive and growth oriented) Jupuary would furthermore greatly limit the progress of JUP to a single year of distribution instead of 2 - 4 years.
We would fail to capitalise on the 9.5X volume growth and 16X user growth, converting this into more holders and traders for JUP and further cementing the JUP and Jupiter ecosystem. Any good project like Jupiter deserves to keep growing and scaling, and we canāt do that without itās actual users.
The achievements can become much greater as we scale further through following up on the plans and further advancing the JUP distribution and decentralisation. Jupuary can help further increase the market cap, holder count, trading volume and CMC ranking, bringing JUP and Jupiter to the next level.
The JUP airdrops bring huge (social) media attention to Jupiter and provide (potential) users with an extra incentive to use Jupiter instead of other platforms.

Makes total sense.
My argument is simple though, But not guaranteeing. I admit the price will drop slightly but honestly I donāt see it dropping much at all and even if it does not for long as the price action after the second round of ASR & amount of staked Jup is continually growing the more &more people are realizing how much of an honest and legitimate system we have built around the community here for JUPā¦
That being said I would prefer much more honestly to receive the largest number of Jupuary tokens as possible even if the price drops because I know its not long before retail takes hold and everyone is in a Friendly-battle to accumulate as much JUP as possible for both voting & Staking - To get more and more rewards and to continue to Vote and Buy into a product line that will appreciate in value.
So Give me More Jup I donāt care at all if the price falls, Because Honestly Iām not selling my Jup & along with an extremely fast growing number of community members We clearly can see and understand the growth potential of such an amazing Team and community including all work-groups. I can honestly see Jup rising to the $3-$5 Range within the next year easily.

The cost to broader community sentiment is ultimately far higher as we have seen with recent projects like Scroll than the dilution, of which is ultimately relatively small for a project of this scale.
Appeasing the top 100 users at the expense of potentially millions of real users is never a good look in an industry that is fundamentally built on network effects.
Shouldnāt forget there has already been one highly tiered drop and even in a terrible market the token performed quite well. There WERE buyers including myself.
On top of this consider the upcoming 33% supply reduction, making much of this somewhat irrelevant.
We can say ASR is unrelated to Jupuary, but ultimately what many giga whales are advocating for is effectively a second ASR allocation with a different name, or simply no Jupuary at all and consolidation their voting power further.
I am no whale but have been a power user for over a year, this isnāt specific to Jupiter but I have no interest on supporting or even interacting with projects that allocate linearly or that cancel airdrop promises altogether as in this case is being asked for.
Fundamentally, to reject Jupuary is asking for more centralized power for whales, and less decentralization broadly such that it will ultimately become totally intrenched, and voting for 99.99% of users pointless.
Donāt forget this was a promise by the team to begin with, a horrible look if ignored for the sake of 100 whales out of a project with over a million users.
