Proposing Jupuary Airdrop Criteria for a Thriving Jupiter Community

As we look forward to the next Jupuary airdrop, it’s essential to establish criteria that not only reward loyalty but also incentivize meaningful contributions to the Jupiter ecosystem. Here are the proposed criteria that should be considered for the upcoming airdrop:

  1. Staking and Voting:

    • Active staking and participation in DAO voting are crucial indicators of commitment. Rewarding those who stake their $JUP and engage in governance ensures that we are incentivizing long-term investment and active involvement in decision-making processes.
  2. Discord Engagement:

    • Cat of Culture and Cadet Roles: Recognizing members who have earned these roles through consistent and valuable contributions to the community fosters a vibrant and supportive environment. Engagement on Discord is a key element of community building, and those who actively participate should be rewarded.
  3. Meaningful Twitter Threads:

    • Encouraging the creation of thoughtful and informative Twitter threads helps spread awareness and education about Jupiter. Those who contribute high-quality content on social media should be acknowledged for their efforts in expanding our reach and influence.
  4. DEX Volume:

    • Active trading on decentralized exchanges (DEXs) contributes to the liquidity and health of the $JUP market. Rewarding users based on their trading volume can incentivize more activity and support the overall ecosystem.
  5. Value to the Community:

    • Contributions that add significant value to the community, such as educational content, project development, or strategic partnerships, should be recognized. Airdrop criteria should include a mechanism to identify and reward these impactful contributions.
  6. HODL $JUP with No Sells:

    • Holding $JUP without selling, particularly keeping tokens from the last airdrop, demonstrates strong belief in the project. Rewarding long-term holders helps reinforce the value of commitment and loyalty within the community.
  7. Attending Planetary Calls:

    • Regular attendance at planetary calls shows a dedication to staying informed and engaged with the latest developments. Those who consistently participate in these calls should be rewarded for their active involvement.
  8. Nomination by Peers:

    • Implementing a peer-nomination system allows community members to recognize and reward each other’s contributions. This fosters a culture of appreciation and highlights the importance of collaboration and mutual support.

Conclusion

Establishing comprehensive and fair criteria for the Jupuary airdrop is essential for maintaining a thriving and engaged Jupiter community. By rewarding activities such as staking, voting, meaningful engagement on Discord and Twitter, active trading, valuable contributions, HODLing, attending calls, and peer nominations, we can ensure that the airdrop benefits those who genuinely support and enhance our ecosystem.

Let’s work together to create a rewarding system that not only recognizes loyalty but also drives meaningful participation and growth within the Jupiter community.

I wanna hear everyone feedback below

This is a great post and welcome to the dao! I agree with most of these points.

It would even be cool to see people who use the jup research forum be rewarded too. people like @Merlin-M-Ostermann is a great example.

Will be interesdting to see how the vote goes (presuming there is one) but i wouldnt be mad if the team decide themselves.

You and @Mbolorman would deserve it more, but thank you for the mention.

I just wanna see Jupresearch thrive and get some trickle down from the Jupiter Discord, as here the content is so much better but there the engagement is so much higher.

The discussions and arguments in here are a core essential of the DAO culture, cool to see, read, participate and engage. Of course voting is essential, but Airdrops are just a bonus… basically not that I want one but hey if it ever came I would be the last to say no!

Airdrop = more JUP = more vote power, and that is all I would care for! :rocket:

YEah for sure and the people who meet here are dope! i think to this day we both have only had one bad cookie on here.

The people here obv care about the ecosystem and deserve to be rewarded.

Good ideas, there is one thing to remember though. We also want new people to be inspired and have options to be rewarded. I’ve seen a few times being mentioned that those who have not sold any from the 1st jupurary should be rewarded. I do agree but we are many who were not even aware of Jupiter back then, yet we’ve still became supporters and members of the community so rather than highlighting the 1 jupurary tokens received, I think holders came after the 1st jupurary should also be taken into consideration. I for example found Jupiter on March and been only buying more since that, so in a sense I haven’t sold any even though I wasn’t part of the 1st airdrop. If we directly cut people outside 1st juprurary out, it would most likely discourage new people.

So a better model would be to measure how long a person have been staking, no matter if a person received it from the 1st jupurary or bought from the market. Obv the 1st jupurary JUP would have higher weight as those were the 1st tokens on the circulation but this way you don’t totally cut out people who joins after.

Wow! You captured everything & more I have been banging on here on other discussions & debates relating to the same topic. My hope is that folks from the Jup team and all working groups take note of such topics & discussions to inform their decision on how to structure a proposal to present for a vote on this issue. I have had a lot of back & forth with the likes of @Merlin-M-Ostermann @lochie2001 etc who have also express similar views around this topic.

Thanks for the mention. Just doing our bit to keep the DAO resourceful and functional🙌🏿 You are a great contributor as well.

more than discord engagement, i feel the discusion on this platform has alway been more big brain which will be great if recognized

In the nature of a forum, big brain really resonates on topic

I mean I get it why Discord will always be the higher engagement, Discord deserves it really for all the utility, functions, bot implementations and whatnot.

On the flipside a forum like Discourse will always carry better on deep dives, discussions, debates or something as simple as “topic presentation”.

But I have already made up my mind, in a sperging attempt on Discord today, that I will make it my personal mission to draft some cats and catdets over to here.

And if I need to use the dark secret hidden forbidden jutsu of unfiltered cat memes and puns… so be it! With a twinge of cringe, and whispers of my grand whiskers, I will draw attention with my paw of intension. Purry pat pat, I am a cat.

Not sure why but each time I join the Jup discord, when I go back it just disappear off my account & have reactivate again so just got fed up. Anyone facing same issues?

I do not have that issue and have not heard of it yet, but what I assume is some procedures missing… As in like most users are very well experienced with “regular” Discords, but seldomly come across a Discord that has applied for “Community Hub” features, and I think the Jupiter Discord is one of these… but the onboarding experience is not set up properly which is a shame haha. I would love to talk with someone in charge there, they are missing out on a lot utility.

So basically, you first join it, and then carefully look around, usually either on top or on bottom of whole screen on server (Using Discord App on a PC) there will be a notification that you are currently just “hanging there watching it” and you actually want to JOIN it…

Then I would go click (as long as it is there) the Jup server icon with right click and mark the box to show all channels…

After that I would look out for any message pin channels, sadly I do not remember which one it was but there was a channel to do some sort of verification, not sure if via an emoji react or via a bot prompt… It is not set up very intuitively and convoluted that is why it is a bit easy to miss that…

Anyhow there was something that you either need to trigger by a react or that prompts a bot DM for you to complete a captcha or accept the rules or something like that…

Finally, if this all above has nothing to do with your issue… I would try something like left click holding the server icon in left tab and “dragging” it to a different position…

grafik

looks like that, maybe, it sort of “anchors” the channel by you repositioning it… otherwise I am out of ideas.

Is there anything else anyone would like to see considered? XYZ mentions some great points.

I’d love to see some things that haven’t been considered yet

It is spot on! It’s clear that you’ve put a lot of thought into maximizing the benefits for our community. This is exactly the kind of forward-thinking strategy that will take us to the next level!!

Great thought and discussion and I do agree that @lochie2001 and @Merlin-M-Ostermann always provide great comment and discussion on any topic in here.

Also i understand the reason for Discord, its a great platform to reach the community. But the one issue I have with Discord os that I find that good discussion and well thought out ideas get buried under the “to the moon”, “GM”, and many other messages which just push out and hide good discussion. I find that the discussion here is much more grounded and thought out.

One possible idea is to use a points based system when you stake your JUP, the longer you stake JUP the more point you get. This can also possibly include holding of JUPSOL. The depending on the number of points you have gives you additional benefits, which can include JUP, NFTs, etc.

Then to ensure holders are rewarded, if you unstake your JUP, or partly unstake it, you forfeit some points which you have accumulated.

Pretty much spot on - In community management over the last 3 years, I always perceived Telegram having the worst of this effect- no one scrolls up, and all is buried in memes, to the moon, banter and jokes… Discord has it too but you only really notice on such a lively Discord like Jupiters, or in comparison to somethin as solif as a forum.

Even if good discussions happen in Discord, eventually they will lost in time and space and pushed up where no one scrolls to ever again, the only saving grace being dedicated topic channels, which in return do not hold people from joking there but also make a DIscord at some point hard to navigate, especially with too many channels.

It did not even occur to me, but staking JUP is the only way to votepower currently, or? And you saying JUPSOL refers to LP in a DEX or? Cause it seems like a nobrainer, LP points are often included in such metrics in other positions. I come from Algo and there it is quite common practice- sometimes even incentivized with yieldfarms.

It would be super good for JUPs TVL to have more people provide JUP-SOL liquidity, so IMO there should be an inclusion for votepower, I kinda assumed it would already exist and I am just missing it…

I agree for the most points with the only exception being the last point - i think that this can easily manipulated by bad actors

i think this could be reshaped a little bit, why not instead of time we not make it with total # of votes? Like if you have staked but haven’t voted you haven’t really contributed to the project, but the more proposals on which we vote, the higher reward, no?

Amazing post and I agree that current staking and voting shall be rewarded the most in addition to rewarding the DEX volume contributors as the core as they are the real engine
