Proposal: Introducting Reddit Working Group for Jupiter

Again i dont know why you would need a working group to post on reddit, you just need a moderator. If people want to post things they will do that for you.
I understand working groups to create tech/projects/usecases, but working groups for each individual social media platform? Isnt that to much? Also all these social media post groups running individual, sorry i see no sense in that.

I really hope it grows organically and not through some crazy cockamamy approach !

Perhaps a reddit name ‘officialjupiterexchange’ and is there a blue tick system or something (similar to x) on reddit? Also, a pinned message warning about copycat sites. Meanwhile, inform reddit about the bogus site. There’s lots that can be done I’m sure, and the membership numbers, together with the mods, announcements, quality of information and membership, plus reputation of some key members should push it to the top of any reddit searches quite quickly. Also, suggest adding a reddit link on the main jupiter site etc

Usually there is a process to become a Reddit mod. I would be interested in taking that step. It’s much easier and within my capabilities than developing

@TheCity777 - I am interested in becoming the Reddit mod for the JUP subreddit to boost its presence
let’s chat? i am in GMT-5
Reddit: atgif

I propose a REVISED budget;

$68,000, JRWG Lead (~$3.5k/month), full coverage moderation team of at least four moderators (~$10k/month), as well as a ~$2k overflow budget for contingencies and miscellaneous APPROVED expenses (such as graphic design, bot development, bot hosting, etc). Up to $8.5k per month ($25.5k) to be granted as bonus to lead and moderators, granted by community approval or vote AT THE CONCLUSION OF THE 3 MONTH TRIAL PERIOD.

The overall budget total remains unchanged, but if the community feels that the work didnt meet expectations then the bonus is withheld. The expectation should be that we start to see a reddit community with at least a couple thousand members (or something) with all the responsibilities being met in terms of posting and moderation. This is $25.5K that the DAO can retain if the work is really THAT bad. (edited)

Creating a presence on reddit is a welcome development but setting up a WG on reddit is not necessary. What is needed is not a working group but a mod. Creating a WG for each social platform might be too much.

Repetitive exposure and engagement is key to increased adoption; 1.2B potential adopters is worth focus that can not be ignored.

90 days is ideal length of time to determine if objectives were realized, and by how much.

Hey @TheCity777
I would like to apply for the role. I’m available to talk either on discord or reddit: username is thedave003 on both of them!

Why do you need 4 pros costing 200k per annualized? That is very steep! And if they are Asia or Africa based moderators… then this is Senior Management level salaries. No.

Hey team, a few questions / suggestions for this overall (posting this to all working groups):

  1. Separate the purpose, work and budget. Let’s agree on the purpose first (why are we doing this?), then get into the actual work (the how) and the costs. I don’t see a lot of people in here so I don’t know how this is done, but my sense is we are just throwing money around and hoping something works. This process would not work in most startups, and we should be careful here.
  1. Costs - when we propose salaries, I think it’s fair to say where the people are based. Job pay is not equal globally, as cost of living is not equal. $6K/mo is pretty good for many places but what if we could get the roles filled in lower cost areas? Are we paying people in SF (or here in London) where costs are insanely high, or people in other areas where $6K is in the top 90%tile of pay. I’m not against paying people what they are worth (they should be paid, they are doing good work!) but I have zero context for who/where/howmuch these devs should be paid.
  2. People - while these proposals are coming from the people who want to do the work, I wonder how we evaluate them against others? It is “first come, first served?” Could we not make a job description and then let people in the community apply/interview for this? I know this is a DAO but we may not be allowing time/openness to see what the market looks like.
  3. If we’re going to have multiple proposals at once, can we make sure all use the same template, so it’s easier to judge the value proposed across various initiatives? Otherwise I could see a rise of proposals flood in and very little clarity on how this all works.
Thanks for reading and considering these thoughts.

this is an absolute no-brainer! i’m all for it lfg!

What a seriously undervalued platform Reddit is when it comes to Solana! Reddit would be massive to break into for Solana as a whole, not just Jupiter & Cats fam! I can see from your massive experience you are the best one to lead this initiative, therefore you have my full support @TheCity777
I am not the most experienced when it comes to Reddit, or I’d offer to provide assistance in anyway that was beneficial. Keen to see what you build, and how this can improve and further deepen Jupiter’s culture in Web2&3

Let’s rock 'n roll, I am for this proposal.

This is a solid strategic activity. The proposal identifies the key point in the second paragraph: Reddit has 1.2 billion MAUs. And a lot of those are good prospects for crypto if not already engaged.

We need to go to where the market is to grow the pie. Solid proposal.

@TheCity777 how might someone apply for a position if this proposal succeeds?

Thanks!

Reddit has always been one of my favorites. I’d love an opportunity to be a part of this. How do I open compressed nfts though? lol

Also a great idea. Also agree with other post RE: Redditt.

I like this one and I’m supporting the idea. :cat2:

While I am probably going to vote in favor of this proposal, I feel the budget is way higher than needed. I was a mod for r/cryptocurrencies back in 2018/2019, and feel like I would be able to mod for JUP for $2K/month. $18K would probably be a more appropriate budget.

On that note, where could someone apply for a role like this?

Giddyup!
