Monthly Report: Jupiverse IRL Meetup – February
The Jupiverse Connect initiative continues to drive community engagement by organizing in-person meetups that nurture a deeper understanding and wider adoption of web3. This report outlines our February activities’ journey, challenges, and successes, highlighting a transformational phase for our team and the wider crypto community in Nigeria.
Overview and Context
Our reporting was paused in recent months due to a significant restructuring within the DAO. As shared by Morten, all in-real-life (IRL) events were postponed to the next quarter—a tough pill to swallow considering our plans for December and January. Nevertheless, our team’s passion for advancing the Jupiverse remained strong. Without direct funding from the DAO, we proactively sought and established strategic partnerships to keep our initiative moving forward.
During the second week of January, our proactive search for partnerships led to a collaboration with the Borderless community. A member reached out about an upcoming Blockchain Conference scheduled for February 25th. While we initially had reservations due to the campus’s limited Web3 background, this opportunity quickly evolved into a silver lining.
The Spark: Apeathon and Web3 Evangelism
While actively pursuing partnerships, I continued to advance the Jupiverse evangelism mission. The announcement of the Apeathon—a competition targeting college and university students—provided a direct approach to engaging fresh minds in Web3. This initiative led to the creation of IAUE Web3 (Ignatus Ajuru University of Education Web3), an inclusive movement built on the “PPP mentality,” welcoming all students regardless of their blockchain affiliations.
From our initial outreach, ten enthusiastic individuals emerged, and after careful selection, five representatives were selected to represent our school at Apeathon. These representatives are now registered and eagerly anticipating the event kickoff.
Hosting the First Blockchain Conference at Campus
With less than three weeks to prepare, our team took on the challenge of organizing the first-ever crypto event at the University of Ignatus. Despite the campus being relatively new to the crypto world, the enthusiasm was palpable. We set an ambitious target—gaining at least 1,000 registrants—and thanks to relentless group efforts in promoting the event, we surpassed this goal, registering 1,132 participants within just two weeks.
The event was not only about numbers. It marked a pivotal moment in our efforts to onboard the next billion users into the world of crypto and web3. Although financial risks were involved—with hall rentals and other expenses being non-refundable—the Jupiverse team’s commitment to community love and growth drove us to invest wholeheartedly.
Collaborative Efforts and Strategic Partnerships
To ensure the event’s success and enhance its impact, Jupiverse Connect collaborated with several key communities and organizations, including:
- Roqqu: Our top sponsor, which provided scholarships.
- Fanpool
- Everest
- Moonwalk: Our friends who helped energize the event.
These partnerships not only enriched the event’s offerings—from engaging speakers to exciting games, giveaways, and networking opportunities—but also solidified our commitment to creating a robust crypto community

Lessons Learned and Future Recommendations
For anyone looking to replicate this success:
- Leverage Existing Communities: If the school or institution already has a web3 community, use it as a base for publicity. If not, establish one with a clear vision to foster a dedicated following.
- Forge Partnerships: Collaborate with active web3 communities not only locally but also from other regions to maximize outreach.
- Be Bold in Uncertainty: Even when faced with financial or logistical risks, a passionate commitment to community and innovation can lead to extraordinary outcomes.
Conclusion
The historic Blockchain Conference at the University of Ignatus marked a milestone in our journey to bridge the gap between traditional education and the evolving world of Web3. Our collective efforts not only provided valuable insights into cryptocurrency but also laid a solid foundation for future engagements. As we prepare for upcoming IRL meetups and events, the lessons learned from this experience will guide us in onboarding the next wave of crypto enthusiasts, ultimately contributing to a more inclusive Web3 ecosystem.
For the love of community, our journey continues—one innovative step at a time.
