LFG Introduction: Bright Sight Optimistic Oracle - bringing any data on-chain

Bright Sight will be Solana’s first optimistic oracle and we’re excited to share our ambitious plans to bring all data on-chain!

Intro Story

The Bright Sight team has been building out prediction markets on Solana and realized that the core data oracles (pyth, chainlink, switchboard, etc.) mainly focus on price feeds. We needed a solution to get ANY data on-chain and we’re excited to build the first optimistic oracle on Solana.

What is Bright Sight?

Bright Sight is an optimistic oracle that allows any project or protocol to use any data on-chain. Projects or individuals can create a ‘data request’ where anyone, anywhere, can propose the data. This data is then optimistically accepted unless otherwise disputed, allowing protocols to leverage this data within on-chain programs. If data is disputed it goes to a vote, which is where the Bright Sight token comes in!

What we’ve done so far

We are continuing to build out and improve the first prediction markets live on Solana - Hedgehog.Markets! We also have a suite of user tooling (hedgehoghub.xyz), run a validator (hedgehoghub.xyz/stake) and have a simple Solana ecosystem page with applications and tools linked for new and existing Solana users to explore the ecosystem more easily (hedgehoghub.xyz/solana).

Jupiter Ecosystem and Bright Sight

The goal of this protocol is to provide an open source infrastructure layer for anyone to be able to bring any data on chain so they can leverage that data within on-chain programs.

The first collaboration out of the box will be an integration with Hedgehog to provide data that can resolve markets. We are speaking with another team that already wants to leverage Bright Sight once live and are looking for other RWA, insurance, DePIN, trading etc. projects that are looking for ways to get real world data on-chain in order to use that data within their protocols’ programs.

The goal of a TGE for Bright Sight is to have tokens for grants/incentives for others that want to leverage the oracle and to bring more awareness to this oracle anyone can leverage. We feel that by having a close relationship with Jupiter and other ecosystem projects that leverage the LFG launchpad we can collaborate and help with grants or integrations for those future projects. The token is also the backbone of the oracle itself. This is needed on day one as it operates as the on-chain dispute mechanism for data disputes.

Approximate target date for TGE is late September/October after doing final mainnet testing.

Our Vision

This oracle would allow any protocol/person to create a data request and use that data on-chain. It would collectively leverage the power of the community to validate and contribute to the data set therefore accruing value to the bright sight protocol and all projects leveraging this oracle.

We believe the biggest challenge is awareness and on-boarding participating users and projects that want to leverage the oracle. The LFG launchpad along with the constantly growing Jupiter community will help bring more eyes and awareness to this oracle that may help unlock new use cases for applications being built on Solana.

We want to be more conservative in our launch and allow the token utility and/or governance along with the community to drive value to the token vs just launching at an unsustainably high FDV and exacerbate selling and profit taking at the start. As value grows and token demand grows the FDV of the token will be better reflective of this value accrual.

Can you provide some more related links so we can dive deeper?

Is anyone from team public on Linkedin?

Topic got me curious, would love to read in deeper!

Thanks for introducing this project in here as these Oracles are very important in providing trusted information based on the outside-world sources to the on-blockchain smart contracts. Please can you highlight how Bright Sight Optimistic Oracle is different from the likes of Pyth, ChainLink and other oracles out there? Any key differences or similarities in how it operates compared to these other oracle networks?

Yes, we have a more through explanation in our gitbook of how the optimistic oracle works. Bright Sight - Optimistic Oracle | Bright Sight Optimistic Oracle

The entire team is doxxed and should be searchable on Linkedin.

How the optimistic oracle works is explained in our gitbook more thoroughly - Bright Sight - Optimistic Oracle | Bright Sight Optimistic Oracle

At a high level pyth/chainlink/etc. are price feeds where as an optimistic oracle can enable data like FED rate changes, presidential election winners, Mert moving out of canada, how much a bottle of rare wine costs, etc.

How an optimistic oracle works:

  • an integrated protocol creates a data request (such as “Will X country pass Y law by Z date”)
  • anyone can then propose a solution to this (I.e. ‘yes’ or ‘no’)
  • this data can be disputed and if not disputed accepted as true and used within on-chain programs
