Jupiter Government

I would like to start of by explaining why is decided to make this post.

I have been in the community for some time now and I feel like we as a community need to be more involved.

I’m especially talking about the way votes are being formed.

This is where we introduce Jupiter Government

The idea is to have 30-40 people working on-site as “government” employes, these 30-40 people will reside in the same area and form the key part of the “government”

These people will be chosen by vote and includes these roles:

  • Board Member
  • Minister of … (Could be Social media for example)
  • Crew

Board Member
The role Board Member will exist of 30 people which will vote on proposals to make them pass to a vote or not.

Ministers
These people will also be chosen by vote and will be in charge of their assigned role, for example the Minister of Social Media would be in charge of all votes that pass on Social Media. This means that he will work closely with the team to make sure the outcome of the vote will be put in action and executed properly. This person would also make sure that any vote that is brought to the “government” which falls under their category is refined till its actually achievable.

Crew
This will be the people that would manage the social media of the “Government” and any other stuff that needs to be done off screen.

Benefits

The benefits this proposal gives us is that the community can actually decide some team members + bring Jupiter to a whole other level.

The meetings between Board Members will be livestreamed and will be open to the public to give as much transparency as possible.

This would be something no other project has done and would expand Jupiter a whole lot in terms of publicity as it could really make headlines and make people excited.

Execution

Let’s say for example the chosen destination would be Dubai, people could apply for the Job and would if chosen have to move to Dubai cause most of the work would be on-sight, and terms for this job would be 1-2 Years long.

Funding

Each person would be paid a salary of $5000 and all residential Costs would be paid, my estimation would be that thats roughly $3000 a month which brings the total to $8000 for each employee.

8000 x 40 x 12 = $3.840.000 and there would be a budget of $1.160.000 for any other costs like the building where the work would be done which brings the total to roughly $5.000.000 a year.

Why?

In terms of for Jupiter this would be a big change in terms of community getting more say but this is not the only benefit.

30-40 People would get an opportunity to work for Jupiter which does not come for free as they would have to sacrifice alot to be able to make this happen.

This would also bring so much media attention to Jupiter which could honestly be a game changer to Jupiter as a whole.

Long shot

I get that some of you might see this as a long shot but if I learnt 1 thing from the Jupiverse its that you always have to try cause if you don’t you surely know its not gonna happen.

If there are any questions please don’t hesitate to ask and any feedback would be appreciated.

Even if this is not a perfect plan let’s work together to make it perfect since I think many of you will like this plan.

I’m sorry, but this seems woefully inefficient. A government to decide which votes to run that will cost 50% of the DAO’s entire USDC treasury is a bit out there.

Thank you for taking the time and writing this proposal Jurek.
I personally disagree.
My main concerns:

  • I see a lot of hidden Bureaucracy
  • This is a lot of money (A LOT)

Maybe thats a proposal that goes in the right direction but “big boom” changes are most of the times not good for an organisation / project

The idea is not to fund it from the Dao budget but from the teams strategic reserve.

The whole point is not to have bureaucracy…
Right now the team can just launch a vote for something they want, and tbh its not alot of money… it will come from the teams strategic reserve aswell to show that the team is giving us more power and also financing that to show how dedicated they are to the community.

Then the team should vote on it imo.

50/50 means 50% community 50% team no?

Interesting idea.

This work more like a political party system. Which works in some societies.

Benefits are:

You vote for who you believe represents your beliefs, views and value.
Those who do not stick to their promise risk not being re-elected

Downside-

It broadens the scope of dao governance by significantly centralising it.

The things we vote on don’t necessarily need someone to vote on our behalf.
Msot are yes/ no votes.

I think it’s good to discuss the structure of Dao. My main concern is that it would be centralised. I think the best option would be for the community including the team as part of the community to vote on proposals as it’s currently the case. Currently though the criteria for most voting is put forward by the team. Or okayed by the team. Would be nice to change it in the future perhaps. But how to organise it into a user friendly way could be complicated and challenging. Plus I dont know if this is something that is desired. My impression is through social media apps including this one the team gather’s feedback from the community and decides if it aligns with the business model of the exchange. It’s probably very challenging to have both sides balanced. There is a major flaw at present though. Realistically the few have all the voting power. For this to change education regarding what members of the community are to vote on needs to be the priority. Otherwise ill informed situation could arise.
