Project Summary

This project aims to host the FIRST Web3 Conference in Northern Nigeria, this is a large-scale event dedicated to driving Web3 adoption, education, and ecosystem development in Northern Nigeria. It aims to onboard thousands of new users, developers, and entrepreneurs into the Web3 space, and integrate participants into the Jupiverse. The conference will feature technical workshops, panel discussions, builders incentives, and networking sessions to bridge the knowledge and adoption gap in the region.

Problem Statement

Northern Nigeria remains underrepresented in the global Web3 economy due to:

  1. Limited Access to Web3 Education: A significant knowledge gap prevents developers, startups, and businesses from fully leveraging blockchain technology.
  2. Lack of Professional Networks: Web3 developers and builders lack connections to funding opportunities, mentorship, and technical guidance.
  3. Minimal Adoption of Web3 Products: Many attendees from previous events were unfamiliar with Jupiter’s ecosystem beyond swaps, missing out on governance, Jup Mobile, DCA, Perps, Ape.pro, and Jup Portfolio products.
  4. Absence of Structured Web3 Communities: Unlike other regions in Nigeria, there is no dedicated hub supporting long-term engagement with Web3 technologies in the North.

PoC Solution (Work in Progress)

Following the success of the FIRST EVER J.U.P in the North event.

Over 300 attendees were onboarded to Jup Mobile and into the Jupiverse. Currently, we have:

  1. Successfully demonstrated grassroots adoption by onboarding new Web3 users.
  2. Engaged with local Web2 developer communities interested in building on Solana and with Jupiter Developer tools.
  3. Partnered with northern universities and tech hubs to assess the feasibility of long-term Web3 education programs.
  4. Started preliminary discussions with global blockchain organizations interested in expanding into Northern Nigeria.
  5. Secured a venue and paid a reservation fee of $300 to host 2000 attendees, pictures and videos in this Google Drive folder

Proposed Solution

The Web3 Northern Conference 2025 will:

  1. Educate & Upskill: Offer hands-on workshops, panel discussions, and training sessions on Jupiter’s ecosystem, DeFi, DAOs, and blockchain development.
  2. Drive Web3 and the Jupiverse Adoption: Organize wallet onboarding sessions, Jupiter-powered hackathons, and contributions to the Jupiverse to encourage first-time engagement.
  3. Foster Ecosystem Growth: Facilitate networking between developers, established builder, and global blockchain communities in the North.
  4. Build Sustainable Web3 Hubs: Work with northern universities, tech hubs, and community leaders to create lasting Web3 educational programs and adoption initiatives.

  • A well-organized conference with structured workshops, panels, and networking sessions.
  • A successful activity to promote local Web3 startups with Jupiter-powered tools.
  • Post-event reports and follow-up activities to sustain momentum and impact.

Community Feedback & Engagement

To ensure Web3NorthCon 2025 aligns with community needs, we will actively gather feedback and leverage DAO resources. We will engage past attendees of J.U.P in the North event through surveys, polls, and discussions to refine workshop content, speaker selection, and onboarding strategies.

Throughout each phase, we rely heavily on feedback from the Jupiter DAO community., including mentorship from the CWG and collaboration with Duke, who has been instrumental in organizing impactful events and onboarding sessions in the Jupiverse in Southern Nigeria

By fostering community-driven input, we aim to create a highly relevant and engaging experience that accelerates Web3 adoption in Northern Nigeria.

Timeline

  • March 2025: Announce conference, finalize partnerships, and initiate marketing.
  • April 2025: Open registrations, confirm speakers, and begin pre-event onboarding.
  • May 24th 2025: Host the First Ever Web3 Northern Conference in Nigeria.
  • June - December 2025: Expand “J.U.P in the North” to other states and host smaller meetups.

Measuring Success

  • 2,000+ attendees at the Web3 Northern Conference.
  • 1,500+ new Jupiverse users onboarded.
  • 10+ Jupiter-powered projects empowered through Developer Activities.
  • 5+ university partnerships secured for long-term education initiatives.

Budget Breakdown

The previous J.U.P in the North event was successfully hosted using personal funds, demonstrating the strong potential for Web3 adoption in Northern Nigeria.

However, to scale this impact and reach a wider audience, securing this grant is essential. It will enable us to expand our efforts, provide better resources for developers, enhance onboarding initiatives, and establish sustainable growth for Jupiter’s ecosystem in the region.

Here’s a structured Budget Breakdown table with a total budget of $6,800:

Category Description Estimated Cost ($)
Venue & Logistics Hall rental, seating arrangements, sound system 1,500
Event Branding & Merch Banners, flyers, event website, T-shirts, stickers 1,000
Marketing & Outreach Social media ads, video production, IRL publicity 600
Speakers & Panelists Travel, accommodation, and honorariums 600
Technical Setup High-speed internet, projectors, livestreaming 600
Workshops & Builders Incentives Developer materials, training resources, and incentives for builders utilizing Jupiter’s Dev tools and infrastructure 1,500
Catering & Refreshments Meals and drinks for 2000 attendees 500
Post-Conference Activities Hosting another J.U.P in the North event in a different northern state 300
Miscellaneous Emergency expenses, unforeseen costs 200
Total Budget $6,800

Risks & Mitigation Strategies

  • Low Awareness & Attendance: Mitigate through aggressive social media campaigns, influencer partnerships, and pre-event online engagement.
  • Limited Technical Adoption: Provide pre-event educational content to prepare attendees for hands-on sessions especially for local developers and builders on Solana.

Conclusion

The Web3 Northern Conference 2025 is set to drive mass Web3 adoption, empower developers, and expand the ecosystem in Northern Nigeria. This is not a regular one; it’s a movement to establish the region as a leading Web3 hub in Africa.

With this grant, we will build the foundation for sustained Web3 education and adoption, ensuring Jupiter’s long-term presence and impact across Northern Nigeria and beyond.

Transparency, community, and feedback are at the core of what we stand for. In the Jupiverse, we have found all these values, and now, we want to give back in our own way.

Alongside Duke, our goal is to onboard over 100,000 people nationwide into the Jupiverse by the end of the year, solidifying its growth and accessibility.

Good idea for JUP/ JUP mobile monopoly in northern Nigeria :+1:

In person events are the best way to create a connection to JUP, imagine you plan well enough cascade a series of conferences into mass adoption in Northern Nigeria.

  • my suggestion is high frequency events similar to what artists do with concerts every week.
  • 12x conferences (Kano, Kaduna, Zaria, Sokoto, Maiduguri, Katsina, Bauchi, Jos, Minna, Yola, Gombe, and Dutse).
  • Season 1:
    1. 12 events, 2k people at each
    2. Onboard 25k people to JUP mobile across the north
    3. Referrals = cascade JUP mobile adoption = mass adoption in the north = JUP monopoly and eventually top crypto app

Impressive work with 2000 attendees at your first conference, great value for adoption.

Thanks for the feedback Lochie

Our first event had 300+ persons, with zero marketing efforts.

We plan to use 2months to market and promote the event.

So yes it’s very possible.

Thanks BTC for your feedback.

That’s exactly the plan, after this first Conference in Kaduna, we plan to scale up the outreaches across other states.

The North has the numbers, so we would absolutely outperform our projected expectations.

Just beautiful!! Congratulations!

Please tell me something: Are loans in your country very expensive?

Because here in Brazil it´s 450-1200% APR!! Local currency.

My idea is to lower It using DeFI. For the last 3 years, my plan has been very good.

What are your country’s challenges? And how will JUP solve It?

JUP is LIFE

I would support this. Maybe include the variable amount in case 2,000 attendees is not met?

Just to get a rough idea, I tried to calculate the approximate cost of this project in Europe by repeating your plan. Here’s what I’ve got👇

The cost of organizing such an event varies significantly across different regions of Europe and depends on several factors such as the city chosen, the type of venue, etc.

Here’s an estimate of average costs for several areas:

Observations:

  • Northern Europe is the most expensive due to the high cost of living and services.

  • Western Europe is also costly, especially in major cities.

  • Southern Europe is more affordable, but prices increase in large metropolitan areas.

  • Eastern Europe is the cheapest option, with costs sometimes half of those in the West.

  • Central Europe falls in the mid-range, with high costs in Switzerland but more moderate prices elsewhere.

The choice of country depends on the available budget and target audience. The high estimate range seems to me to be more in line with reality than the low estimate range.

Absolutely and Definitely.

We are and have been working together, if you check the top of this proposal his name is included as a contributor.

Can’t achieve this alone. Teamwork is always the best work. :muscle:

Absolutely, not sure if the APRs that comes with loans here cos I haven’t taken a loan before.

However, In the Northern Nigeria, I could say thousands of young people are seeking great opportunities to make their lives better.

But haven’t got the right channel or medium for effective education and presentation of the opportunities that come with being in the Jupiverse.

That’s the whole idea for these outreaches and events.

To onboard them to Web3 and direct them to active participation in the Jupiverse.

Nigeria is the one of the largest if not the largest adopters of Crypto in Africa.

Yes, millions of people use it.

Absolutely, thanks for the feedback Dan.

In as much as I am confident that we would outperform 2000, I feel the bare minimum we would have is 1,500 attendees.
