Hi @Merlin-M-Ostermann cool project. I’m a big advocate of doing things that can potentially benefit our environment.
Initial thoughts:

I just tried the app sign up flow and my first concern is with data privacy. Since naturally, this business model would involve establshing a pipeline and path to sell the data. I think it’s important to fortify committments to privacy, data soverienty, ownership/control.
I know generally, that is a very big animal to chew on its own. -
Any plans to incorporate non-air type sensors but for environmental monitoring? ie. soil, water.
Some discrete ideas re privacy/data:
- Clear prviacy policies
- Policies on what data is collected from mobile phones exactly and which will be specifically sold/shared with others
- Mechanisms to control your shared data. ie. ability to delete.
- Transparency, way to see when it was shared and who it was shared with. (i know quite wishful thinking but thought I’d try lol).
- Anonymization and anti-profiling features.
- In the future, a path for non-profits to obtain the data for free for their studies.
A layer that addresses all these challenges can be a product on its own - and should be. But anyway, just some thoughts.
I won’t be signing up right now with my phone bc of the privacy issues. but I may hook up some adruinos in the future to particpate.

Please remove the turtle as one of the options! Or revise all turtles already out there. They have major issues.
The Turtles currently on network, will always remain on network as long as the users keep them, there is no sense in just offboarding them-
That being said, Ambient does not ever consider to onboard them again, let alone sell them as they have been identified as a faulty product long ago

Thank you very much - DePIN Revolution with Hotspotty really was a blast- having been present personally on all 3 days, I almost regret later Ambient was not scheduled for day 3, as honestly day 3 was really partymode, haha.
Good to know this project once in a while. I was amazed that air quality could be involve in crypto space. I was a pollution control officer in my previous job which relates somewhat in this project. Looking forward to learn more about this one.
The app links directly to the privacy policies, and not sure if you overlooked them, but they are very clear and conscise, not sure what in specific one would feel is missing there.
Given what you write, not taking a jab here just really assuming, it seems like you did not see them as many of the points you bring up like what data is collected, what is shared, transparency, anonymization of statistical to be sold data as a business case, are all clearly there, were there from the start and are spelled out in detail.
You might want to take a bit time to really scan the content of the website, as for instance also (and I get it is not the place one might assume it) in the tokenomics there are hints and remarks on other environmental sensors data than air quality and also free data aquistition for non-profits, partially also in the API section.
The AmbiGo! app will not run on arduinos, pi’s or android boxes, it is absolutely meant for mobility usage on real phones. While currently still a progressive web wapp, the next stage of development will bring it to app stores at some point, and with this, because of absolute intent, be limited to real phones only.
That being said, I myself am also not a fan of data crawling, and if you are neither, maybe skip the app and rather go for a sensor later. The App and the sensor network, are in essence totally seperated topics and entities.
On topic of other metric sensors, there are plans and already ongoing things also- I can not go into too much detail, as naturally it is a matter of impact on reveal. But to keep it general, there are some metrics like light and sound pollution that are interesting as they are not yet established in the DePIN sector- while other metrics like water quality, soil quality, weather data and a few more there are already projects out there that exactly do this, so it is better to collaborate with them, than actually invest on a competative product.
