Empowering Holder-Driven Proposals: Enhancing DAO Decentralization on Jupiter

I truly appreciate what JUP stands for and the ideology of holders voting for or against proposals in an automated and visually stimulating voting platform that Jupiter built for stakers. However, the process is still one-way, as only the team gets to make proposals. For the DAO to truly represent what it means, holders should also get to make proposals on the platform that can pass through the voting process and implementation. Here are some key ideas:

  1. Proposal Initiation by Holders: Any holder can make a proposal if they can stake a certain amount. I believe 10 million JUP is sufficient for this. This ensures that proposals are made by individuals with a significant stake in the protocol’s success. However, to prevent bad actors from buying large amounts just to make harmful proposals, the 10 million JUP should be locked for 30 days before voting and for an additional 30 days after voting.

  2. Incentives and Penalties: If a proposal fails to pass, the proposer may lose 10,000 JUP, which will be burned to support the token. Conversely, if the proposal passes, the proposer will be rewarded with 10,000 JUP for their contribution to Jupiter’s growth.

  3. Inclusivity for Smaller Holders: To ensure that the voices of smaller holders are heard, anyone can make a proposal with a minimum of 1 million JUP staked into a pool for the same 30 days before voting and 30 days after voting to unlock. For the proposal to advance to the voting stage, it needs to reach a total of 10 million JUP in the pool, with contributions from other holders. If the quota is not met within 30 days, the proposal will not proceed to the voting stage, and funds can be unlocked.

  4. Pooling Rewards and Penalties: To encourage others to deposit into proposal pools, everyone who contributes shares the 10,000 JUP reward if the proposal passes. If the proposal fails, a total of 10,000 JUP from the entire pool will be burned, distributed proportionately among contributors.

  5. Dedicated Proposal Page: This entire process should have a separate page on the current voting platform. This ensures that proposal deposits are distinct from already staked JUP, requiring new deposits for proposal participation.
