CWG Quarterly Report #2

Intro

As promised in the original CWG Budget Proposal, we’re excited to present our second quarterly report. This report aggregates our updates and accomplishments from the past three months, serving as both a community touchpoint and an opportunity for reflection for the CWG to move forward into the next quarter.

And If you’d like to refresh on the first quarterly report, you may do so here

In this 2nd issue of the Quarterly Report, there are 4 sections:

  1. Vision for the DAO and the CWG
  2. Tasks we’ve accomplished over the past 3 months
  3. Tasks we intend to accomplish over the next 3 months
  4. Any Changes to the Team Structure

Vision

Here we will touch on 2 items: The vision for the DAO and the vision for the CWG itself.

The original goal which was outlined for the DAO was to ‘expand the Jupiverse and Solana as a whole via funding workgroups and distributing grants’. This later on included the empowerment of active catdets to align themselves with this expansionary goal.

Now, three months later, we see an opportunity to add depth to this vision. We believe that the purpose of the DAO is to become a positive feedback loop which creates the abundant circumstances where lifting others up, lifts the up the entire whole.

This is best illustrated by the C.A.R.E framework which outlines the four pillars of impactful actions that can cultivate this meaningful environment of support. You can explore more about this in Slorg’s essay here: “Igniting the Spirit of Victory within the Jupiter DAO”

For the CWG, our vision remains largely the same. We serve as the connective tissue linking grant recipients, emerging workgroups, the core DAO members on Twitter, narrative, and the Jupiter team. Our purpose is to understand and account for each group’s needs, strengths, and challenges while providing visibility, support, and relationship-building across these various groups and intersections.

In doing so, the CWG acts as an active force working to create more alignment and cohesion to help hold this massive experiment together.

Prior 3 Months:

At the conclusion of the last quarterly report we set out to achieve 5 goals. We successfully executed on 4 of them, which we will go through below:

1. Establishing the Grants Program:

With the goal of expanding participation in the workgroup system and the DAO, we established a grants system supported by a $150k budget secured through a successful DAO vote. This program introduced our idea called the “evolution system,” a potential pathway designed to help people and projects progress from grant recipients to fully recognized workgroups. This system is flexible and co-creative meaning that the ideas presented are not set in stone, merely a place to start.

So far, three groups have successfully received grants, while over a dozen others have begun taking up the banner of the DAO and started working on their initiatives. Additionally, prior to establishing the grants system and deeply informing it, both the CWG and CAWG awarded informal grants from their respective budgets to JUP&JUICE, enabling and empowering them to effectively grow into a full Trial Workgroup.

2. Continued Expansion of the DAO Account:

At the time of the first quarterly report, the DAO account was under 18,000 followers. Today it is at 29,000, a growth of 9,000 new followers. It is the number 2 account by size next to the main account itself, and it has played a key role in providing crucial clarity, comms, education and community amplification. Since the release of our first report, other community accounts have also emerged and started to grow with support from the DAO account. Together, these accounts represent the early framework of what is shaping up to be one of the most powerful decentralized comms networks in all of Web3.

3. Further Decentralization of the Strictlist:
Three months ago, the Strictlist was managed by a small group: Mei, myself, and a few dedicated Catdets. Since then, the group has evolved into a 14 member Catdet Council, each playing a substantial role in managing and refining this crucial service. These council members have contributed critical feedback which has been integrated into both the social and technical aspects of the Strictlist process. Additionally, developers from the Jupiter Team have implemented a proprietary “Magic Score” which serves as an anchor for the Strictlist process.

4. Hiring New Members:
In our last quarterly report, we highlighted the need to expand the CWG by the end of this quarter. I’m pleased to share that we’ve achieved this goal, with three new contributors joining our ranks. Details on these new advisors and team members can be found in the team section below. Their contributions have already made a positive impact and strengthened our capacity to support and further the DAO’s mission.

And what of the 1 that was not achieved?

1. LFG V1: In hindsight the original LFG thesis did not pan out as we believed it would. There were many long discussions around this, but one of the major points was that the Jupiter community did not, and could not, translate over to the communities of these projects.

Other Items:

  • Planetside Chats:
The weekly Planetside Chat, recently initiated by c2yptic and Kemosabe on Twitter, has become a popular gathering point for DAO members. This casual, topic-focused chat offers an oasis for contributors, and the contribution-curious, to engage in lively discussions, explore new ideas, and connect with others in the community. It’s an excellent opportunity to participate in meaningful conversations, gain fresh insights, and expand your network within the DAO.

  • Continued Office Hours:
Since our last quarterly report, the CWG has maintained its weekly office ours every Monday in Discord, with JUP&JUICE expanding our reach by streaming these sessions live on Twitter through their JuiceCasts. Each office hour follows the familiar structure with workgroup updates and audience Q&A, while also featuring the occasional unique segment to empower the DAO. Highlights include multiple Midjourney sessions, creative deep dives, and a JUP&JUICE case study designed to guide potential grant applicants through the application process.

  • Continued Mod Support:
Moderators are on the frontlines of the Jupiverse. They have continued to do an excellent job within their scope. The CWG is thankful for the daily contributions from the moderation team.

  • Jup.eco:
Since absorbing the scope of the trial Web Work Group, Kemosabe and Morten have revamped Jup.eco into a site for aggregating DAO content. Videos, infographics, notable tweets, blogposts, newsletters and alike are all available and searchable on Jup.eco. In addition, the site now contains the DAO media kit, a WG directory, and the famous Midjourney guide. With a final design revision by a wonderful catdet and Professional Designer, Adedamolajoke, the site will exit active development and trend towards maintenance mode: a meaningful resource library for the Jupiverse to create, curate, and learn.

  • Bounties:
Bounties are a new frontier for the CWG, we recently spun up our first bounties to solicit ideas around the core pillars of C.A.R.E, and measure the effectiveness and reach of our Midjourney Guide by asking community members to create images that show what “Jup is Home” meant to them. Finally, we’re collaborating with Uplink to solicit a Product Demo talent, which is currently ongoing. We’re satisfied with the results so far and will consider the occasional bounty as a new tool in our tool-box as needed.

  • Grants Mentorship:
We’ve held mentorship sessions with 17 unique groups, each presenting ideas for what the DAO needs. These sessions have sparked many valuable discussions, allowing DAO members to receive constructive feedback on their ideas while enabling us to connect with them on a more personal level. Ultimately, the CWG believes these mentorship sessions have been beneficial for both the DAO members and ourselves, and we plan to continue offering them as needed.

  • Newsletters:
Another recent addition is our newsletters, available both weekly and monthly. Written by an incredible catdet, AG, who’s talent was originally discovered by OG of the Uplink workgroup — these newsletters provide one of the most consistent and thorough summaries of DAO activities you can find. The first monthly newsletter just dropped, and we encourage everyone who hasn’t yet to check it out.

  • Acting on Community Feedback:
A large part of the CWGs role is listening to and acting on community feedback. Examples of this include increasing the ASR#2 claim to 2 months, as it was a common request from the ASR retrospective, and including an additional option to the Quorum vote after feedback on the proposal. This additional option ultimately won the vote.

  • Providing Internal Support:
Internal support is one of the most overlooked and least visible tasks within the scope of the CWG, but arguably one of the most important. Within our capacity as the CWG we have continued to provide internal support for the workgroups, workgroup-trials and grants groups throughout this last quarter. Including, but not limited to providing support and guidance, feedback and delivering comms assistance in amplifying their messages and content.

  • Vote Facilitation & Support:
A central part of the CWG scope is facilitating DAO votes, and providing them with the support they require. In conjunction with efforts from the team in addition to increased community efforts, the DAO has seen the it’s highest voter turnout this quarter.

Next 3 Months:

Across the next 3 months we have a list of goals which will be paramount in maintaining the DAO’s momentum and help to set it up for success for the years to come. Such items include:

1. Furthering Grants: The grants system just got started. There is still much work to do on every level. For example, how do we facilitate more trials? How do we facilitate more grants? How can we pinpoint people to where they’re needed most whether that’s in an existing initiative or to kickstart their own. The goal here is to ultimately create an ecosystem of founders. We are off to a good start but have so much more room we can grow in this regard.

2. Continued expansion of DAO account: The DAO account serves a significant purpose in communicating, highlighting and amplifying community content. As it has grown, so too has our ability to help raise up the voices of other contributing groups within the Jupiverse. Additionally, it’s flexibility has proven useful in the ability to continuously amplify campaigns such as ongoing DAO votes. We hope to maintain the momentum going forward, as the benefit of having a massive bullhorn is evident.

3. Continued propagation of midjourney guide and DAO branding: We are elated at the number of people we see noodling with both the Jupiter Branding and the DAO midjourney prompt to create something all their own. While the other workgroups focus on things like podcasts, videos, and threads we believe this is a niche area where the CWG can provide immense value, and to date has.

4. Increased messaging efforts: One thing we want to expand into is having more campaigns around crucial Jupiverse topics and ideas like PPP, The Jupiverse, and GUM to name a few. While we have focused mostly on internal DAO topics like Workgroups and Votes, we believe having these items as a North Star can help keep the community Aligned as we continue to grow.

Team Changes

In the last quarter there have been 3 team changes to the CWG.

We’ve added 1 member, 1 advisor, and have begun trialing another person.

Morten has joined the team and is actively being put to work spearheading initiatives like the grants system, mentorship sessions and other tasks.

We’ve also added an advisor who we meet with for 1 hour every Wednesday. He is the former creative director at Twitch and has been instrumental in informing many of our decisions.

His role is to consult with the CWG on strategies to increase active member participation within JUP DAO. His extensive involvement in the development of the esports, gaming, and livestreaming industries has equipped him with unique knowledge and experience in cultivating micro-communities and fostering digital community emergence.

Finally, we’ve begun trialing AG. He has started by creating the weekly and more recently monthly newsletters, summarizing everything that happened in the DAO in the past week. We are still navigating the nature of his collaborative efforts, and will continue to explore this over time as the relationship evolves.

Conclusion

Once again, we thank you for reading through the entirety of this Quarterly report. If you have any comments or feedback, you are always welcome to let us know. We hope this has been as useful to you as it has been to us.

Given how challenging it can be to connect with people across the globe whom you’ve never met, build trust, provide them with opportunities to prove themselves, and guide them toward achieving their dreams, I must say that, so far, @CWG is executing this vision with excellence.

Achieving 4 out of the 5 ambitious goals you set just three months ago is truly remarkable—and it’s no accident. You engaged the community, actively sought their feedback, thoughtfully incorporated their insights into your plans, and brought everyone along with you by sharing your thinking and rationale. This approach has led to outcomes widely embraced by the community. Only a team dedicated to building a stronger community and exceptional products operates with this level of transparency and collaboration. Well done—you’ve set a high standard.

Finally you’ve set out some ambitious target for the next 3 months and we hope as a DAO and Jupiverse community in general to contribute towards achieving these targets.

Keep on the fab job guys. We are here to support in our own little ways possible to make Jupiverse the best.

Good report, well written. I’m excited to see how AG’s trial goes; he’s great. Got a lot of love for AG and his work.

You have a real talent for spotting the strong cats, like Morten and now AG.

Morten has been a perfect fit since the start, and has achieved a lot already.

It would be helpful if the report were shorter and/or easier to consume, but I understand the reasons for its current format.

Thanks for speedy feedback too, very important!
