Catdets Working Group Proposal - Live, Work, and Play in the Jupiverse [Final]

Note, this is a detailed and comprehensive proposal, for a quick-read, you can look at the following sections:

Scope & Summary (For Voters)

Mission: The CAWG’s goal is to make the Jupiverse the most productive community in crypto.

Happy cats are productive cats.

Over the past year (Cat Year 0), we empowered community creators, built tools for recognition, grew our social presence, and nurtured a close-knit “Catdet family.”

In Cat Year 1, we aim to focus on retention and long-term engagement – keeping our community members active, rewarded, and involved for the long haul regardless of market conditions. Our long-term vision is making the Jupiverse a place where people want to Live, Work, and Play because it’s the best place to be in Web3. We want to pioneer the future of decentralized communities by creating resilient culture and strong networks of social capital for the rapidly expanding Jupiverse.

Before we dive into the nitty gritty of what we are doing, let’s take a birds eye view of how we are moving towards this vision of having Jupiverse become the best place to Live, Work and Play.

There are 3 broad areas of focus here:

  • Solidifying culture by establishing meaning and purpose via shared Jupiverse identities and ethos [F1]
  • Formation of social capital through regular & consistent community interactions, rituals of appreciation and mutual encouragement and support (including critical feedback) [F2]
  • Experimenting forward with different ways of living, working and playing in the Jupiverse [F3]

F1 and F2 naturally feed into and help reinforce F3, allowing us to eventually arrive at the best and most productive community in web3 and crypto as we experiment with new ways.

As you read the rest of the proposal, you will see each point labelled with one or more of F1, F2 or F3. It’ll be good to come back to reference these 3 key ideas to see how everything connects and reinforces each other.

Cat Year 0 Highlights (What We Accomplished):

  • Laying the Foundation:
    • Co-created the Ethos, Rules, and Guidelines for the Community so that it can be a healthy and sustainable place for everyone. [F1]
    • Clarified the importance of Catdets and Cats of Culture. [F1]
      • Catdets are community members who consistently show up, help others, and uphold the ethos of the DAO.
      • Cats of Culture are mentors, leaders, and guides who stay actively involved. They are anchors in the community and help guide the direction of the DAO.
  • Appreciation Culture: Built and deployed the Appurrciation system – a tool (originally a Discord bot, which now includes a cross-platform Chrome browser extension) that lets users send each other virtual “appreciation” across Discord, X, and Reddit. Every Catdet has a personal “Wall of Love” showcasing the kudos they’ve received. [F2]
    • Result: Over 3,000 Appurrciations have been sent so far (by 226 unique givers to 461 unique recipients), creating a strong culture of gratitude and recognition.
  • Reaching more of the community: Under CAWG’s leadership, more cats have started to engage with the community, in ways they prefer. [F3]
    • r/JupiterExchange: Jupiter’s subreddit has grown from ~4,000 to ~8,000 members since the CAWG took ownership of the page, placing it in the top 8% of all Reddit communities by size. Opacks manages the subreddit and actively engages with the community - he answers questions, forwards concerns to the team, and generally makes everyone feel welcome. He also creates daily and weekly content, keeping members informed and connected.
    • JUPreddit X Account: We’ve grown JUPreddit Twitter to 1.6K followers, using it to crosspost and highlight key updates from Reddit and JupResearch. Through X, we’re able to showcase interesting posts and community creations to a broader audience.
    • X: Our @JUPCatdets account grew from 0 to ~15,000 followers in under a year, with engagement at an all-time high. RolexGold has developed and maintained a voice for our brand that educates and inspires.
  • Catdets PPP Hour (Supporting Community Members): Hosted 50+ (yes, 50!) weekly “Catdets PPP Hour” sessions where community members and team members gather to review, improve and engage with community-created content. These fun, collaborative sessions help new contributors refine their skills and grow their audience. [F2]
  • Wellness Program: We pioneered one of the first wellness programs in crypto: CatdetsW – Wealth in Wellness. Led by community contributors (TommyEgan and RustyMilk), these sessions mix mindfulness and workouts, and participants earn $JUP rewards for attending. Dozens of Catdets joined in to stay mentally and physically fit. [F3]
  • Mentorship & Grants: Supported emerging community initiatives through mentorship and micro-grants.
    • For example, we recognized the potential of the JUP & Juice podcast early on – CAWG provided a small equipment grant and guidance which helped them, in a tiny way, on their journey to become a trial WG. [F2, F3]
    • We similarly assisted the DeFi JUP Jam group by connecting them with core devs and co-hosting their weekly livestreamed product jam sessions. [F2, F3]
  • GoodCats Program: Took the lead in the review of Jupiter’s GoodCats applications to recognize top community contributors. [F2]
  • Stronger Bonds – Online & Offline: We grew the Jupiverse family.
    • Every new Catdet is welcomed and formally “promoted” by a Cat of Culture, to recognize their talent and alignment with the Jupiter Ethos. [F1]
    • We brought people together in real life – subsidizing meetups and events. From local gatherings (like Duke’s Nigeria regional meetups) to major events (Solana Breakpoint and Jupiter’s Catstanbul conference). [F3]
  • Catdets Website: We built a fully featured community website.
    • Catdet Handbook - a place where all community documentation can be easily accessed. [F1]
    • Profile Pages - all community members can link their socials and add bios and see each other’s Appurrciations. [F1, F2]
    • Meows – an open feedback form for the CAWG team to respond to questions and concerns. [F1, F2, F3]
    • X Wall - allows community members to easily find and follow each other. [F1]
    • Catdets Pawlling Station - Cats of Culture voting on grants and discord roles. [F2, F3]

Cat Year 1 Focus (What’s Next):

Main Direction

In the Cat year ahead, we want to continue with the 3 areas of focus discussed earlier, but more aggressively, with 3 key guiding principles in mind:

  • Decentralise aggressively → we want to bring more decision making power to the community, less in the hands of a few.
  • Develop more community leaders aggressively → we want to grow more leaders within the community. A community of leaders is how we get to the next stage.
  • $JUP (Dollar-JUP): experiment aggressively with community-driven ways to integrate $JUP as a widely used community currency within the Jupiverse → JUP will be the GOAT token that is widely used as well.

Detailed Breakdown of Plans

Below we break down our main focus areas into (1) Year 0 achievements and (2) Year 1 plans for each, to show both our track record and our roadmap ahead:

Supporting Every Community Member (PPP Hours & Mentorship)

Cat Year 0 achievements:

PPP Hour:

Our weekly Catdets PPP Hours are very impactful: We’ve held over 50 sessions where community members come together on voice chat to share their latest content and get feedback. These sessions have created a collaborative learning environment – Catdets improved their content quality, learned social media tricks, and gained followers. It is a place where they can showcase their creations and build their personal audience.

Case Study: Soltone

Soltone creates high-quality X articles showcasing Jupiter’s features and community. Through PPP Hour, he gained visibility, refined his craft, and built a strong audience. Previously, his reach was low, and he wasn’t as active in the Jupiter community, but these events helped him become an engaged contributor – and now, an amazing Catdet.

Grants:

We also play key roles in supporting other grant recipients and potential WG members in the community. Grants act as a way to scout talent within the DAO and give people an opportunity to show what they bring to the table. These grants serve as a stepping stone for individuals to demonstrate their skills in a meaningful way.

The CAWG supports these grants by providing early-stage ideation and ongoing mentorship. One of the hardest parts about working in a DAO is knowing exactly what will be useful to the community and how to get started. We strive to engage the community to identify problems, help form Jupiverse teams to tackle these, and set these teams up for success.

Case Study: JUP & Juice

Jup & Juice is a great example of a talented group of community contributors that the CAWG recognized and supported on their journey to success in the Jupiverse. During the early stages of their podcast production, we provided a monthly grant of $500 to help cover the cost of new equipment, which played a key role in their early success.

Case Study: DeFi Jup Jam

DeFi Jup Jam is another example of this: We aimed to help this talented team solve the lack of content about Jupiter’s products and updates. By connecting them with the Jupiter team and helping to co-host their product jam podcast, we played a key role in the quality and production of their podcast.

Meows:

We have also recently rolled out a “meows” feedback form on our site, aimed at allowing the community to get their voices heard. We are committed to improving the experience for community members continuously. We commit to hear all “meows” and respond to them within 24 hours. It’s extremely important to us.

Cat Year 1 plans:

We aim to continue the PPP hours because it is very well-received by the community. In the next phase, we aim to support more community contributors and provide more opportunities. We will lead the transition from purely content creation and social media activities to a broader showcase of our community’s creative and impactful projects.

The goal is to create tangible value through work done in the Jupiverse. This will take many forms, here are budding examples that we are shining a spotlight on now:

  1. Regional Catdet Growth Leads:

  2. Developers/Builders:

  3. Creators:

PPP Hour can become the perfect garden-bed to nurture incredible creators, developers and builders in the community. With the support from the Jupiverse community, they can create products that drive value to the Jupiverse and beyond, and $JUP can be placed at the heart of these.

Creating & Nurturing a Culture of Appreciation

Cat Year 0 achievements:

Culture of Gratitude:

Right from day one, CAWG focused on gratitude as the glue of the community. We developed the Appurrciation system to make saying “thank you” fun and visible. Initially a simple Discord bot, it evolved into a browser extension that works on Twitter (X) and Reddit too. Now, whenever someone in the Jupiverse does something awesome – writes a helpful post, answers a question, shares a cool idea – fellow community members can instantly send them an “Appurrciation.”

So far, we have seen nearly 3,000 appreciations given – that is 3,000 moments of positivity and encouragement circulating in our ecosystem. We aim to see this expand drastically as we continue to decentralize the Catdet role and this culture of gratitude.

We also made it a point to celebrate individuals more formally: CAWG runs Catdet Spotlights on social media, highlighting members’ stories and achievements. Recently, we cooked up this Megathread where we shined a light on some of the amazing members of the Jupiverse.

Good Cats:

In collaboration with the team, CAWG executed the GoodCats program, reviewing nearly 8,000 community applications. We built a dedicated review platform with clear evaluation criteria focused on engagement, consistency, and impact

Contributors were recognized across three categories: Content Creators, Community Contributors, and Developers. This thorough process ensured fair and accurate recognition of our community’s hardest working contributors.

Cat Year 1 plans:

We will keep improving our appreciation tools and programs to make them even more inclusive and engaging. One focus is to “break down walled gardens” – meaning we want appreciation to flow freely across all platforms where Jupiter exists. If there’s a post on Jup Research, we want those participants to eventually be looped into the Appurrciation system too. We’re also exploring ways to make this process more gamified.

Importantly, we plan to greatly expand tangible rewards for Catdets. Appreciation in Year 1 was mostly social and emotional (recognition, shout-outs, etc.). In Cat Year 1, we’ll pair that culture with incentives – $JUP and unique Jupiter swag for those making a difference. By doing so, we expect a flywheel effect: people see that hard work and helpfulness get noticed and rewarded, which motivates more people to contribute, which then continues to strengthen the culture. In short, CAWG will continue to be the cheerleader of the Jupiverse, but we’re gonna put a lot of energy into expanding how we reward Catdets and increase retention of active contributors who are cooking hard!

How to do this best will be an ongoing discussion, incentives can be a fickle thing, but we plan to push harder in this direction. Gratitude is the goal.

Create a family of Catdets who feel connected with each other

Cat Year 0 achievements

We treat the Jupiverse as one big family. CAWG has ensured that no Catdet is left behind. Every time someone becomes a Catdet, a welcoming process takes place: a Cat of Culture introduces them, and the community showers them with kind words and memes.

We’ve hosted many community events that bring people together around shared interests – from casual voice chat hangouts to skill-sharing workshops (we had Cats teaching each other everything from making viral videos to even singing, gardening and music production!).

Crucially, we didn’t stop at online bonding.

CAWG helped organize and fund in-person meetups. We believe face-to-face time builds trust and lifelong friendships, which then translate into stronger online collaboration. On this point, we organized meetups at major crypto conferences - Solana Breakpoint and Catstanbul. The Catdet’s Retardio Rave was a major success in Istanbul - we had over 300 people come to RAGE with us!

The phrase “JUP is Home” started as a motto, and through these efforts, we see this starting to become a reality. Jupiter, and the CAWG, will pioneer the future of decentralized community living. We’ve got pretty big goals on this front.

To build a functioning community, common values are essential. We have worked closely with the community to create a shared understanding of the Jupiter and Catdets ethos, so that the foundations of the DAO are strong and healthy. We have also crystallised what the Catdets and Cats of Culture roles mean and how they function within the DAO to play a key role in growing the Jupiverse.

Cat Year 1 plans:

We plan to deepen the bonds within the community even further. Our goal is to deepen and strengthen the bonds that make the Catdet family uniquely supportive, welcoming, and collaborative. Building on our successful Year 0 initiatives, we’ll prioritize fostering genuine connections both online and offline, making sure every Catdet feels valued and part of a thriving community.

At this point we should highlight the incredible work some of the community members are already doing in terms of growing language and regional efforts in the Jupiverse. Here’s a list of most if not all of them:

The CAWG would love to support their efforts to reach out to community members further in both online and offline contexts. Whether it’s for the sake of incubating these groups for a future, properly scoped language workgroup or simply to sustain their regular part-time/hobby efforts at driving the growth within their communities. Therefore with this proposal we are requesting a trial budget to experiment with working more closely with some or all of these groups so as to deliver greater impact to the various language-based or regional communities within the Jupiverse.

Together with these groups and other global catdets, we will amplify our regional outreach and host regular IRL and virtual meetups tailored to specific interests and geographic communities. Building on the success of past events like the Catdet’s Retardio Rave at Catstanbul, we’ll host more memorable IRL gatherings, starting with strategically targeted meetups that align with major crypto events, ensuring we can forge stronger, lasting friendships and networks.

Lastly, we’ll expand our skill-sharing sessions, encouraging Catdets to teach and learn from each other. These sessions will range from practical skills (like content creation, product development, or coding) to personal passions (like music production, gardening, or even cooking!). Our aim is to bring more of the foundations we’ve set via our virtual events, to the real world.

Helping Cats Stay Fit & Happy (CatdetsW)

Cat Year 0 achievements:

We pioneered one of the first wellness programmes in crypto where Catdets can receive JUP rewards in return for attending. CatdetsW: Wealth in Wellness led by TommyEgan and RustyMilk. These sessions combine mindfulness and workout components to help Catdets maintain both physical and mental well-being. This is probably the first time a DAO has said “hey, take care of yourself and we’ll reward you for it.”

Success is often measured by relentless grinding and profit above all else, especially in crypto. We’re encouraging the community to rethink productivity a little bit. After all, if our goal is sustainable PPP, and retaining our talent, we can’t exist in this PVP mindset that winning means letting your health go.

Cat Year 1 plans:

Short term: We aim to continue with Season 2 and take community feedback to shape this into one of the best wellness programmes in crypto and web3. We believe that a fit and happy community is a productive community.

Longer term: Our grand vision is to establish the best wellness program. We will find more ways to integrate wellness into each person’s life. In line with our goal of redefining what an internet based community can be, the Jupiverse will have the healthiest community.

Carefully selecting and working closely with Cats of Culture who act as the community’s leaders and mentors

Cat Year 0 achievements:

We put in place a community-based selection process, by creating clear expectations and guidelines for roles and created tools that can facilitate community decision making processes. More about the CoC voting process can be read in our docs. We also collaborated with the community to bring clarity to the vital importance of Catdets and CoCs within the Jupiverse. Read the essay here: Nurturing Our Jupiverse Together: Catdets and Cats of Culture.

Catdets are family, they embody the ethos that has guided Jupiter from the start: helpful, focused on experimentation, open to learning, improving and, importantly, having fun and doing all of it all together.

Ultimately, these roles reflect the best of what the Jupiter community has built together and has to offer. Catdets remind us of our deep bonds, while Cats of Culture embody active leadership. Both roles are about collaboration, having fun, and continuous growth through experimentation.

Cat Year 1 plans:

We will continue to evaluate the effectiveness of these measures and make adjustments as needed. We are currently working to make the Catdet selection process consensus-based, similar to our community moderation process, to ensure greater transparency and alignment within the community regarding these roles.

One of our key goals is to develop leadership skills in our most active and talented community members, empowering the CoCs to take a more significant role in guiding and shaping the DAO’s direction. Over the past year, we have nurtured a strong core community, and we’re excited to continue showcasing their skills in various ways.

CoCs are recognized as leaders and are actively involved in decision-making through the Pawlling Station, where they vote on microgrants, CoC nominations, community policy decisions and more.

Meows help CoCs engage with the CAWG and provide valuable feedback. As trusted community leaders, we always strive to keep a paw on the pulse of the community. A continuous flow of feedback enables us to adapt and improve as the DAO evolves and grows over time.

Keeping the various platforms healthy (scam-free) and mostly engaged in productive communication

Cat Year 0 achievements:

Up until a few weeks ago, the CWG was leading the moderation efforts across all communities. Since then, we have taken over this responsibility and now are fully responsible for moderation across all platforms – Discord, X, Jupresearch and Reddit. We have implemented a consensus based moderation system using the Appurrciation bot, the goal is to keep a “light touch” and to decentralize and share the decision making process.

This week, we have also come up with some basic guidelines for moderators to consider. This will hopefully make the process more structured and fair for everyone. We do not consider moderation decisions to be “final” or without recourse, as we are always open to education and civil dialogue.

Cat Year 1 plans:

We will continue to monitor and update these guidelines together with the community. For moderation, we will gradually move towards more and more decentralised approaches, with the consensus-based moderation system etc. For now, these seem to be working well and we will continue to evaluate the effectiveness of community moderation by empowering the CoCs further. We intend to make small adjustments to moderation, only as needed.

Evolving the Jupiverse – Beyond Content Creation (Cat Year 1 Vision)

Where we are now:

Up until now, a lot of community activity naturally revolved around content creation and spreading the word about Jupiter (tweets, articles, memes, videos). This made sense as Jupiter was growing its presence. CAWG facilitated this through PPP Hours and other content-centric programs, while also piloting some novel non-content activities (like the wellness program, creative workshops, etc.). We’ve laid a strong foundation of an engaged, content-savvy community. We’ve been proud to see community members like Lochie and Molu with small followings rise up to become full-fledged, monetized KOLs on social media.

Cat Year 1 plans:

We envision the Jupiverse community broadening its horizons. As the community grows, we expect members to contribute in more diverse ways – not just marketing and content, but building tools, organizing events, providing services to each other, etc.

CAWG will champion this evolution by creating opportunities for the community to “live, work, and play” together in Jupiter’s ecosystem, and we want $JUP to be at the centre of it.

By the end of Cat Year 1, the Jupiverse should be a place where you can earn a living, have fun, and find friends. We see ourselves as a facilitator of this shift: connecting Cats with similar interests, seeding new initiatives with resources, and generally thinking outside the box of “what can a crypto community do together.” The $JUP token will serve as a way to create alignment between these different groups. Creators and builders can share their ideas with the community, get feedback and support, monetise their work over time and give back to the Jupiverse via the $JUP token.

Our north star remains making Jupiter the most productive and fun community out there - so we’ll keep experimenting until we crack the code on a truly self-sustaining, valuable community.

Rewarding Catdets

In the first phase we were extremely focused on ensuring the ethos and guidelines surrounding the Catdet role are super clear and that transparent and robust processes are in place to select Catdets.

What’s Next: Now we’re ready to go bigger on rewards to retain our top contributors and encourage even more participation. With the additional budget, CAWG will roll out more structured incentives.

Don’t get us wrong – the Catdet role will still stay as an ethos-based role. However, what we want to do, is to reward catdets and appreciate them for their presence in the Jupiverse more, and to further reinforce their sense of identity.

This can happen in several ways:

  • Merchandise and gift packs for Catdets
  • Opportunities to “Super-Appreciate” people around them, with
  • J4J: JUP given out for alignment purposes and for rewarding Catdets for becoming more productive within the Jupiverse

When we roll these out, we will be sure to make it clear and easy for everyone to follow along.

Core Responsibilities of CAWG and Team Introductions

CAWG Core Responsibilities:

  • Supporting community members (their initiatives and giving them a voice), in true PPP manner (both encouragement and critical feedback) – currently via our thrice-weekly PPP hour, offering connections and support as needed, maintaining a /meows page for feedback and any suggestions and questions which we look at daily to respond to
    • Grow attendance and retention on PPP hour sessions and qualitative feedback on PPP hour sessions
    • Track response metrics to feedback on /meows
    • Gather community sentiment via DAO accountability votes and quarterly Community Cat Chats (CCC 1, CCC 2, CCC 3)
  • Creating and constantly renewing a strong Catdet core and a sense of meaning and identity of being part of the Jupiverse (through our focus on co-creating the Catdet role with the community and growing it beyond Discord)
  • Growing social capital within the Jupiverse – through fostering healthy, productive community interactions, ritualising celebration and appreciation of community members through various tools and initiatives created
    • We will look into ways to track this growth better during the first part of Cat Year 1
  • Responsible for curating and maintaining productive community spaces (across X, Reddit, Discord, Jupresearch)
    • Healthy community spaces with no spam or posts violating guidelines
    • Clear understanding of community guidelines, moderation disputes should trend down over time.

Julz (Lead): A builder, writer, and leader to the max. Every amazing community tool and feature the CAWG has developed to date exists because of him. His contributions include the Appurrciation bot and browser extension, CoC voting portal (Pawlling Station), X Wall, Wall of Love, Catdets Profiles, Meows feedback page, and consensus-based CoC moderation, among many others. Behind the scenes, Julz has also built a lot, making the GoodCats application review process possible for the CAWG team. Simply put, without Julz, the CAWG and DAO would not be where they are today.

Catoshi (co-lead): A creative cat who wears many hats within the CAWG. He plays a key role in video creation, copy editing, data analytics, team announcements, community feedback (Meows), and assisting with both digital and in-person events. With a background in marketing, PR, trading, entrepreneurship, and content creation, Catoshi thrives as a mentor and source of inspiration within the community, helping to grow the Jupiverse.

Opacks: A one-man army and a voice of reason, kindness, and professionalism within the DAO, Opacks brings a wealth of talent to the community. He has been leading the growth of r/JupiterExchange Reddit page, developing it to nearly 8,000 members and placing it in the top 8% of all Reddit communities! Beyond his Reddit efforts, Opacks is a skilled graphic designer, known for crafting some of the most beautiful and informative images, slides, and infographics for the CAWG.

Cas: It’s no coincidence that his name is also an important CAWG acronym which stands for Connect, Appreciate, and Support, because he truly embodies it in every way! Cas has handled all of the documentation for the catdets.jup.eco site and has played a crucial role in nearly all CAWG efforts to date, never hesitating to lend a helping paw. He works tirelessly to ensure CoC votes and the CAWG responsibilities of DAO micro-grants are fulfilled smoothly. He also ensures that no good links are left behind, documenting every piece of community content reviewed or missed in each PPP session. Despite having a full plate, Cas is always willing to support others in the community.

Rolex Gold: X page intern for @JUPCatdets, Rolex is always finding creative new ways to rally the community. In a short time, he has significantly grown the CAWG team’s presence and engagement on X, taking the account from 0 to nearly 15,000 followers in under a year, with monthly impressions and engagement skyrocketing as a result. Under Rolex’s leadership, the 24/7 planetary call vibes are always strong, and he goes the extra mile to be an exceptional reply guy, keeping the community engaged around the clock.

Budget

Salaries:

  • 312,000 USDC
    • 5,200 USDC per person/month, for full-time roles. We have 3 members in the US, 1 in the Philippines and 1 in Singapore. Given where most of our members are located, we believe this is a very fair compensation ask to the DAO for full-time scopes.

Contributors’ Budget:

  • Regional Contributors Trial Budget: $30,000
    • There are many amazing contributors in the Jupiverse that deserve our support as they continue to create content for their own local/regional audiences and help build out those communities. This budget is intended to support all the budding language and regional communities. If these efforts are fruitful, say over a period of 3 months, we will seek out a larger budget later from the DAO to grow them further. Note, this budget is not currently intended for events purposes, as that is separately handled with support from the team. It is meant to support regional and budding language contributors operationally.
  • Other community contributors: $60,000
    • Community moderators will be re-numerated for their part-time contributions at a rate of around $500 USDC/month
    • Other Catdet initiative contributors will also be compensated accordingly based on their time and impact created, e.g. CatdetsW alongside other initiatives

Cat Treats Budget for Catdets and Cats of Culture

  • $60,000 and we pledge to convert at least 50% of this budget to $JUP via the market
    • This budget is specially set aside to reward and appreciate Catdets and Cats of Culture more. They are important pillars in the community and we want to show them that.

Total USDC budget ask: $312,000 salaries + $150,000 community incentives

We are asking for 150,000 JUP per person vested over 2.5 years, with a 1 year cliff. This averages to be about 60k JUP yearly. JUP is for alignment purposes long-term. The cliff means that no JUP is distributed for the whole of first year. If any member were to leave the group for any reason before the cliff, they will not receive any JUP. After the cliff, the vesting continues only if the group continues to stay and gets further funding approved by the DAO. Hence, there’s a checkpoint of sorts for the JUP distribution as well. In addition, all workgroups have to pass an accountability vote before the cliff. These are mechanisms in place that protect the DAO.

We believe this is a fair ask to the DAO that is consistent with Jupiter’s ideas and previously passed workgroup proposals.

JUP Allocation: 750,000 JUP (1 year cliff, 2.5 years vesting)

Note: the first version of the draft proposal mentioned that julz is on the Jupiter team in an operational role and is leading Jupiter’s global/localisation efforts. Since then, he has made the difficult but necessary choice to leave his role with the Jupiter team, so as to fully focus on leading the CAWG from the DAO side. In short, he believes in the mission and vision here very strongly and that these are areas he can make a large positive impact in. The idea here is also to ensure that the Working Group philosophy of being DAO-based remains fully intact. More details regarding the concept and thinking around Work Groups will be published by meow prior or during the vote.

In Summary: Why as a voter you should vote yes to our proposal

We believe we have come a long way with our trial in Cat Year 0. This proposal and budget enables CAWG to scale up our impact much further in Cat Year 1.

With it, we’ll maintain a strong full-time team and also empower many community members through incentives, grants and rewards. The end result will be a more vibrant, growing, and self-sustaining community – which ultimately drives adoption of Jupiter’s platform and use for $JUP. In other words, a vote for this budget is a vote to invest in the Jupiter community’s growth, which will support ecosystem health and loyalty.

  1. We have proven ourselves and our ability to deliver over the past year.
  2. Happy community, happy project, happy token.
  3. We are building the future of decentralised communities together (i.e. live, work, play in the Jupiverse).
  4. Ultimately a more productive community will pay multiplied, lasting benefits to the Jupiverse.
  5. Let’s get $JUP into the centre of the Jupiverse together!

A preview of what’s next and what to look forward to after this proposal passes

Here are some of the immediate next steps for us following this vote:

  • Re-shaping the structure and format of PPP towards the next iteration of what is mentioned in this proposal – more focus on creators, builders, makers of all sorts, going beyond content creation/social media.
  • Extending Appurrciation tool to cover Jupresearch as well, from the current coverage of Discord, Reddit and X. This is to ensure every member in the community is included and can be seen by each other.
  • Empowering CoCs further (on two fronts, exploring more roles/responsibilities for CoCs where possible, operationally adding the second vote for CWG/CAWG DAO Grants towards the CoC and Catdet community.
  • Start Season 2 of CatdetsW, and work to recruit other interested community members for similar initiatives that contribute towards productivity of the Jupiverse.
  • Empowering and properly supporting regional contributors and community moderators with our budget.

Here are some things you can expect to see in the near future:

  • More creators and builders getting recognised and jump-starting their endeavours with the help of the Jupiverse community, ultimately aligning to the Jupiverse via the JUP token.
  • More leaders in the community, at all fronts. More Catdets, stronger Catdet identity and ethos, more CoCs, more engaged CoCs and stronger leadership from them.
  • A more vibrant Jupiverse. Season 2 of CatdetsW, growth in number of engaged localised/regional
& language communities, and just people all round having more fun and becoming more productive in the community.

Thank you for considering community feedback and expanding on the original proposal with draft V2. Since my original post and feedback on the proposal are only a few hours old and I am unaware if it was considered in the revision which I have thoroughly reviewed, I thought it would be appropriate to post it here. Prior to sharing my thoughts on the actual proposal, I would like to emphasize that in my honest and unbiased opinion, I truly feel that the CAWG is the backbone of the Jupiverse community and without them, the community would not be able to properly sustain growth in the direction, speed and magnitude that all of us feel this wonderful project is capable of. I myself started as a silent member of the community back in the winter of 2023 and it took me almost a year to become as fully engaged and involved as I now am. I am someone who always puts 110% effort if I love and believe in something as much as I do the Jupiverse. In turn, I can honestly say that if it wasn’t for the creation of the CAWG as a workgroup, I, along with many other discord community contributors, content creators on X & Reddit and much of the X regional content leaders would not be as involved in the Jupiverse as we are today, if at all. I can only speak for myself in saying that they were one of the main reasons for me finding a passion for image generation, content creation, community and catdet support, team building and leadership along with a genuine love for my diverse Catdet & CoC family around the globe.

In regards to the draft proposal, I feel it is well thought out and written in its current form, however I do have some general comments and suggestions:

- Catdets Wellness

What an amazing experience! The bond and trust that I feel we formed as a group with cameras on while opening up our homes and personal spaces to each other is something that I feel was priceless. I can honestly say that Tommy’s workouts and Rusty’s meditation sessions were so good, it was something that I actually felt I should have paid for rather than in the end, getting rewarded. I do feel the program is such a great tool, not just for health and wellness, but for catdet development that it should be expanded into 2 separate Western & Eastern hemisphere sessions to accommodate time zones that can differentiate by 14+ hours in certain places of the world. I also feel that other team building experiences should be developed following the Catdets Wellness platform that could eventually include graphic design and social media content creation by some of the best and most recognized minds in our community. You know who you are

Budget:

- Regional Contributors Trial Budget: $30,000
At first glance I thought this number was low as I was under the impression it included funding for IRL events, however after learning that it is directly for content creators of the different regional language communities and that a larger budget will be requested in the future, I am content with the figure presented. Jupiter Regional is an enormous success, wonderful creation (shoutout to @Chaman) and imeasurable contribution for the unified benefit of all the languages of the Jupiverse. I do however feel that more attention and coordination needs to be placed on actual geographical regions that may share the same language but differ in dialect, culture and traditional customs while also being located in different continents of the world that do not have as much of a community presence in the Jupiverse as would be expected.

- Other community contributors: $60,000
I think it is commendable that community moderators will be re-numerated for their part-time contributions but I would like to recommend a small increase to the budget to include rewards for catdets and CoC’s that are not official moderators but whom still go above and beyond to answer questions of the general public in different channels of Discord for hours upon hours, dedicating substantial time out of their personal lives. I feel there should be a better path or roadmap laid out for community members who are interested in pursuing a moderator roll and also believe there should be more guidance, support and formal training for new catdets by leaders in the catdet community in more formalized coordinator roles.

- Cat Treats Budget for Catdets and Cats of Culture: $60,000
This budget seams reasonable however I do again believe a slight increase would go a long way to appreciate Catdets and Cats of Culture who are important pillars in the community.

    • CAWG Salaries: $312,000*
I strongly feel that $5,200 USDC per person/month is beyond fair and in my personal opinion, somewhat light considering the amount of time these 5 special individuals spend above and beyond normal business hours motivating catdets, helping in General chat, solving issues, responding to dm’s and social media posts along with dedicating extra time out of their personal lives, around the clock.

Additionally, I would like to stress one important statement due to other remarks made on individual salaries. These are professional grown men who together make up a TEAM. I am sure they are capable of handling any differences of opinion that may or may not arise regarding work output, salaries and personal dedication, on their own, internally. Our job as members of the DAO is to vote on if the overall budget for salaries is acceptable, not if one person deserves more than another.
Let’s all take a moment to recognize and understand that some contributions by members of the CAWG and others in this special community and in life are intangible and cannot be quantified by measure or salary.

In final, I fully support the proposal of the Catdets Working Group with or without the recommended revisions. I, with a FULL VOTE OF CONFIDENCE, will be casting a “YES” ballot once polls open. For reference, please note this is coming from a catdet who has personally and publicly asked the founder of this wonderful community and project some of the toughest personal questions possible on the previous 2030 proposal vote for the benefit of the DAO, without hesitation or fear of judgement.

This team has delivered and accomplished more than any of us expected. Jupiter has leveled up and evolved beautifully, thanks in no small part to the hard work of these incredible individuals forming the CAWG.

If this team were to be named Caesar, I would say only this: Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s.’ :crown:

Wishing you all the best with the vote—I’m confident it will pass without any issues. And beyond that, I hope you have the energy and good vibes to achieve everything you’ve planned in the years to come! :hugs: :green_heart: :yellow_heart:

So you have a YES from me, no doubt! :grinning_cat:

This proposal showcases an incredible commitment to building a thriving, decentralized, and self-sustaining community.

The progress in Cat Year 0 is impressive, and the vision for Cat Year 1 takes it to the next level—empowering more leaders, strengthening culture, and driving real utility for $JUP.

A stronger Jupiverse benefits everyone, and this plan lays the foundation for long-term success. Excited to see it unfold! LFG!!

I would appreciate at least two timezones to cover most of the world with this activitiy.

:waving_hand:Hi…so I gave my general feedback on one of the Discord Townhalls but after I read further through the proposal I realized that the grants program section wasn’t fully explored.

Also…during my research I came across an essay that referenced challenges concerning fairness, transparency & accountability of the grants program.

My assessment of the essay and the conversation that emerged raised deeper questions that I would like to be addressed in this proposal.

:white_check_mark: A few helpful guidelines.

→ Please be as specific and precise as possible.

→ Share detailed examples and scenarios including challenges, obstacles, fixes & resolutions.

→ Offer comprehensive insight, analysis, assessments and/or evaluations

→ Core Questions:

  • How does the grants program comply with the Certainty, Alignment & Transparency [ C.A.T. ] framework?

  • In what ways do the grants program adhere to the Cohesion, Activation, Reach and Education [ C.A.R.E ] paradigm?

→ Follow-Up Questions:

  • How does the current grant program ensure fairness in project approval and funding allocation?

  • How are grant budgets determined and in what ways are budgets adjusted based on project need & scope?

  • What steps are being taken to address concerns about favoritism or bias in decision-making?

  • What is the formal process for handling disputes & appeals when a project feels underfunded or overlooked?

  • Who are the people responsible for managing & directing the grants program?

  • How does the grants program allow the wider community to participate in and support the selection process?

→ Next Step Questions:

  • If someone were to create an archetype blueprint for an improved & efficient scalable model for the grants program…what would that look like?

  • If someone were to build a prototype infrastructure for an evolved & effective sustainable growth system for the grants program…what would that look like?

For the grants program, are you referring to this?

i.e. this was proposed by Core Workgroup around 6 months ago and voted on here: Vote | Jupiter

Yes that’s the grants program I’m mainly referring to…but also any grants in general.

Ah cool, for this particular grants programme, just so everyone reading this can understand better, the Catdets WG is involved in a few aspects:

  • supporting potential grantees with feedback on their proposals
  • there are 5 votes in the DAO grants process, the Core WG holds 3 of those votes and Catdets WG 1 vote, CoCs collectively has 1 vote currently. This is likely to shift once the community gets another vote (since 6 months has passed).
  • we help to facilitate the discussion process among CoCs for the grants proposal submitted as well as the blind voting that takes place after.

Since the inception of the DAO grants, more than 10 grants (15 actually I just checked) of various sizes have been approved via this process.

I believe the Core WG will publish more information on grants awarded so far and a review/retrospective of them soon! Do keep an eye out for it.

Thanks for checking in with our proposal.

Thanks @ALLEYCAT for sharing this! Appreciate having you in the community.

Agreed for CatdetsW with regards to timezone. For Season 2, we will have some ideas on this.

On Regionals Contributors → thanks for your confidence and also it’s 100% true there is a lot of different regions and we will need to time grow the initiatives around it.

On the budgets, we will see what we can do. After consulting with members of the community/DAO, we feel that the current proposed budget balances sustainability with impact. There’s always the possibility of putting together additional budget votes as well for the DAO.

Thanks for your vote of confidence!

Thanks…appreciate the summary of the roles in the grant process.
It’s good to know that there’s a set approach for discussions and voting.

That said being said, I still would like to know how the grants program ensures fairness in budget allocation and whether there’s a formal dispute or appeal process in place.

Are budget decisions purely case-by-case, or is there a structured framework that grantees can refer to?

Also, I understand the Core WG is planning to release more information soon, but is there any preliminary insight on how budget sizes were determined so far?

This would help me to understand what to expect in the review.

I guess this is fine, at least is not 52K a month ( that would be crazy right )

I always struggle with pay structures for WGs.

My concern here - the aim is to support the community via the distribution of grants - however those grants only total $150k, whereas those providing these services will cost the DAO $312k plus 750k in $JUP a year, for admin fees basically.

I dunno, I would just like to see the percentages the other way around I guess, as right now they are: core budget 67.5% admin costs with 32.5% going to the wider community; and 100% $JUP allocation for admin costs and 0% for wider community.

One question would be how did you arrive at the additional 150k $JUP per team member?

Looking forward to see how this progresses over the coming years.

Hey thanks for your comment and appreciate you reading through and dropping by here. There’s a lot more than just approving grants or funding contributors that is under our scope.

In the first version of the proposal we did consider asking for more budget for the incentives too and sought out community feedback for it, and decided in the end to opt for a more prudent approach with the overall USDC budget. If the regional stuff sees good traction well for the next 3 months or so we will likely make a separate grant proposal to the DAO to support those members further.

The JUP per member vested over 2.5 years is based on idea of creating alignment, consistent with Jupiter’s ideas as well as past full WG votes: Here and Here. We chose to adopt a more prudent allocation size as well compared to the prior ones, considering the different nature of our WG and also we wanted to take more time to prove the value of our work. That said, I do not believe the work we do is less valuable, hence it’s a tricky balance as well.
