Borrowing against staked JUP

Hello everyone! I was trying to find the feedback channel on Discord and I think that’s gone for now so I signed up here. So I would like to ask the team if they could work on a feature that lets us borrow up to the threshold, say like 50% of our staked JUP in $USDC as per the value of JUP at that point of time for a short period (to avoid market fluctuation). As someone like me, who has 100% staked JUP and 99% of my portfolio in $JUP, I sometimes need liquidity for short-time stuff. You could charge a high interest on the lending and we wouldn’t have to unstake the JUP. Win-win for both. Please consider this would promote long-term staking.

Not a team member but sounds like a great idea and wanted to let you know. Other’s have made similar suggestions in the past, but this would truly be a win win scenario.
You do have a lot of people who sometimes need emergency funds for a given time, but don’t want to have a 30 day delay. These people are committed long term. Many also have everything already tied up in Jup like you mentioned. It would not really a big penalty as was suggested before. It would be a more reasonable interest than say the 50% penalty talked about before. It might also open the door for a lending / borrowing protocol. This would be useful as a way to continue rewards for stakeholders.

Yeah exactly!!! I too didn’t like that 50% penalizing concept. Lets see if team deems this as practical and sustainable.

They get along with JUP very well

Could be a good idea to collab

The idea make a lot of sense but let hope the function of lend and borrow is integrated bcos stake jup is not LST.

Been wanting this for a long time… 50% might be too high of an amount. But some sort of liquidity would be nice…

I couldn´t agree more, my friend! Stacked JUP as collateral would be great! Banx, for example, uses the partner points to distribute Rewards, and the NFT is collateral. All in one app.

The one month vesting period is perfect, Why would anyone stake everything in jup, without thinking of emergencies? Always keep some money aside. Borrowing against stake jup seems more riskier to me.

I think this is a great idea. Getting a loan is my last choice but I would definitely use my staked Jup as a guarantee to get a loan if I ever need one

I would loan funds for staked jup as collateral (and interest paid in jup…)

Actually thought of that a while back when I needed urgent liquidity, I think this isn’t a bad idea, penalties like reduced staking power etc could be introduced to maintain the essence of staking and prompt user to payback, however it could be a lil complex and expose stakers to risk associated with borrowing. Moreover, this, if looked into technically and critically both from users POV and essence of staking POV could determine if this would be cool to introduce or not.

wish this happen! but then again where the usdc comes from?
i think it’s better to utilize JLP as borrowed asset. so people can lend their JLP to get even more apr into the JLP pool since JLP have been stucked in price lately because the pool are getting too big.
