I am editing our LFG Introductions lead topic every now and then to make it look better.
Recently almost every time I implemented a change it would give me the 502 error on saving, and loosing the edit.
At start I could mitigate by making the changes much smaller. Only editing four words, saving and going back to editing.
Now finally I am stuck and can not change ANYTHING anymore.
Even a word, if added or deleted, will give me the error…

I wonder, is there a certain amount of edits you can do a day? ik there is with likes, flagging posts ect.
I think it is not about daily edits, since I had a wait time leading to it, it might just be the densitiy of that topic. It has a lot tables and data.
Currently it is just so stuck that even deleting some paragraphs will not give it room to not have that error. Else I would convert simply tables into graphis.
Hard to really understand what creates the infinity 502 error currently for me, so I am not sure how to fix it.
I even tried the brute force method now, of deleting roughly 20% of the content in the post to regain something to edit… but no chance, still gives me the error and trying to save the deletion:
Unfortunately you’re not the only one to hit this error. @wake and @SaxWEB3 experienced the same thing when editing their VEWG proposal, and it persisted over days. In the end I don’t know how it was resolved, but I’m tagging them here so you might get some insight from them.
Thank you. Yeah that proposal is also quite long. I was thinking that using the tables function I overloaded it (although it let me add them and save it) and was thinking to replace all the tables with optimized low KB images.
I wanted even to redo many of the current images to make a low kb optimized version to increase loadspeed.
that’s true, we had that issue. over time it resolved it self but it too a long time.

Thank you for dropping in and reporting, at least feels a little less shrouded in mystery. I can only wait then for it to resolve. A bit sad only as we delayed TGE adn wanted to incorporate some Jupiter relvant ideas into our Intro. All things in the chat below the leadtopic does not really get noticed.
If it helps, the source code behind the forum is public. It’s known as ‘Discourse’, and after a brief skimming of the repository I did see that there are built in limitations to how many edits you can make to a post, with a custom set cooldown. What those params are for Jupresear.ch we can only guess, but I’m guessing it’s related.
It might be related but given that I encountered that 502 error for a first time very random already much earlier upon saving an edit… and the “chance” of getting it when pressing saved increased the more complex I wove the content with a big peak in introducing tables (which I saw very seldomly elsewhere on topics), I really am convinced it is mostly that. Hence why whenever the edit works again (trying every 3 days) my change is to delete tables and replace them with images.
But good to know that there are edit limits in Discourse too, I mean it does not help me there anymore, but in future will think about that in advance.
