What will happen if the JUPUARY vote does not pass: An overview and discussion

That’s the plan brother! Hoping it plays out right.

100% what this DAO should produce or it shouldn’t be called such. Lucky Jup DAO is littered with folks like yourself, @Merlin-M-Ostermann & many more who want to make the place as resourceful as much to maintain the Jup DAO vision. I have always felt if anyone joins a DAO and struggle to figure out why he or she is there, then that DAO isn’t worth existing. My humble opinion is that Jup DAO is so far living up to its expectation. Let’s keep it up as there is always room for improvement.
The only thing I would have thought of is Referral Rewards. But this is already being rewarded in the Jup DEX itself. If that could be incorporated in the DAO, it could be helpful to attract more members and also used as a way to reward members in the context of one of the ways to reward Jup ecosystem members if the Jupuary Proposal didn’t pass.

I don’t think we are living in the universe in which that vote will not pass

The tiered system is a better alternative, otherwise we put too many tokens in the hands of the whales which unfortunately doesn’t decentralise the protocol. Hopefully the JUP team @0xSoju & @meow can appropriately remove the sybils and reward the lower balanced jup stakers/voters with more tokens who have proven they are long term aligned with the protocol increasing their voting power.

I hope it passes, i didn’t receive the last one so i’m hoping to be worthy of JUP#2 allocation

same i think rewards will be less this year tho if they reward swap users as there are 100x the amount of wallets compared to a year ago. Maybe forum/disc/governance/twitter users can an allocation this time round

Yeah, I agree, mate. Yeah, would have to make a serious proposal on why it would be beneficial not to continue with jupuary. I’m talking serious

Look, I was happy with the format they did last year. I’d be happy for them to Do the same. Just with a different criteria

Well, we already know they’ll be 30% less due to vote. However, maybe the rewards will be a little more concentrated this year?

this is excellent. thanks for all the great thinking and thoughts!

even if jupuary does pass, there should be room to do most of these as well.

I think we definitely need to keep Jupuary alive! But maybe incorporate some of these ideas more also.

JUPUARY shoul continue with anti sybil/exploiters measures

Yeah they are all over it! I wonder what sybils can be measured however? obv dex volume and staking as it is a objective measure, but what about the subjective ones? I guess it depends on what the criteria is. Im happy for the team to take SNAPSHOT first, then decide what is the criteria. if it goes to vote, all the whales and farmers will want it to be a DEX volume one. thatd suck as a stand alone.

I believe if this surprise element is not part of the game, it will be the main thing that can flaw whatever criteria they end up with as the bad guys go to work straight away to twat the system once they’re aware of any reward criteria before snapshot. They go hard…:joy:

Yeah this makes the most sense, it means it can not be gamed

Actually my interpretation of the JUP rewards was that instead of there being 3 JUPs there would now be 2.
Before 30%, 3B tokens, then 30% was burn so 900m
now 2 Jups of 1.05B
I remember reading some tweets about it too

The thing is that right now whales have a huge say on the way votes are decided. In the last vote that there was, the top 100 wallets represented 26% of the total votes and the top 1000 wallets represented 53%. Meaning that if the top 1k wallets voted all in the ‘NO’ to Jupuary, there would be no future Jupuaries. And I’m not saying there is anything wrong with the current system, but it is what it is. And of course for whales there is much more rewarding for them the ASR (that is linear) instead of the Jupuary that was tiered. For someone who already has 1M+ JUP, the extra 100k JUP they can get from airdrop is cool but will not make a huge difference on their portfolio but sure will if there is another airdrop and the price dumps. So I believe the vote will go through but might not be that obvious and we can be surprised by the way whales vote.
